'ge' pronounced 'guh' as in 'ni-guh' is a measure word and is used to illustrate objects

example : this / that or 'two of them' (liang ge 'a couple')

It's also used when describing the number of something, though that certain 'thing' will not always call for 'ge' as a measure word, there are others used when appropriate.

Absolutely, I could even guess as to where he comes from - Mainland China

-just looked he's a white guy, he learned Mandarin well enough to use pondering linguistics. He's absolutely got a firm grasp on Chinese
