Im so glad I got out of the low country area about a year ago. Goose Creek, summerville, North Chuck, and chucktown. The traffic became fucking ridiculous over the last 10 years.
Yeah, I left just in time. The whole place is overrun by people from out of state because travel magazines keep ranking it highly. The commute was horrible and the pay wasn't enough to live in the area. My parents still live in Summerville but they are retired and don't have to fight traffic. I probably had one of the best jobs you can get in Chucktown too working for Navwar/Spawar. I think it's a great place to visit but living there gets old fast. Hell even Savannah is getting crowded.
Yep, every like 8 out of 10 people you meet down there will not be from SC and the ones that you do are a lot of time 1st generation SC. All the people not from SC where almost always from Penn. or Ohio LOL. Perfect example of people leaving blue areas and moving to red and then voting for the same Dems they left their home for.
My wife and I just left Slowvannah after 40 years, almost all of it in the historic district. I still have to commute in for work, but that will be over in eight weeks. When I'm retired, I can't imagine going back there for any reason other than medical services.

There are several lake areas that are super here in SC, e-thing on the coast is pretty expensive & has more dimtards. Best public schools are in north or Summerville near the coast. Most private schools are top-notch everywhere.
NC / TN has awesome terrain and coast. Close enough to SC it's all smaller than CA. No, the mountains aren't as high and don't have as much vertical either, but you still get a great variety. Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, endless exploration ...
Waves aren't as big but you already know you'll encounter more commies on the coast. Take up sailing and you can enjoy the water without having to deal with them. NC,Hatteras / OBX is the "wave magnet"
