I’m already armed and provisioned, but I’ve always wanted an AR pistol - preferably in 300BLK. I’d like to feel like I did it on the cheap. I own some tools and I’m handy enough.
Will I be saving money, this day and age, rolling my own? What’s the most cost-effective way to build a dependable platform? The way I see it, the 80% lower and 3D printer routes are only cheaper if I’m building several lowers. Is that right? I see blem lowers from Anderson for pretty darned cheap, but then you have to pay shipping and the FFL..
Go watch a bunch of videos on 3D printed lowers before trying your own.
It takes a lot of fine-tuning with the slicer software, careful selection of the filament type and depending on the results of the final print, a lot of post-print cleanup (filing, sanding, tapping threads).
And a lot of printed lower projects can take days to print, even with the printers pushed as fast as they can go without spoiling the print.
Thanks, yeah- It’s kind of fun to think of UNLIMITED LOWERS but I know it’s not that simple. And I’m frankly not super interested in learning all the black magic that comes with 3D printing.
