Actually they arrested 50 that night. Word is they are using their new Federal deputization to nab them on NFA violations for un-papered destructive devices.
Yep, Molotov cocktails are NFA regulated destructive devices. If you want to own one legally, you have to pay the government their $200 and register them. Violations are federal crimes.
first off it is about use. a bottle with gas with a rag in the top in your garage is not illegal. Take to a riot it is illegal. pay $200 and register? umm no. that is only for items that are allowed to be registered. molotov cocktails cannot be registered. other destructive devices can be registered but it is up to the ATF to decide if they will do it or not. If not they come and get it.

You can't pay it retroactively. That's part of the crime committed.
