It once was, I remember Deukmejian and Pete Wilson. California was a lot better to live in back then. Even San Francisco was pretty nice in the 80s.
Cali's government now is lazy, corrupt, and inept. They use social causes like climate change and diversity to distract from their inability to serve the taxpaying citizens and deliver basic reliable services like police, power, water, and decent roads. It's the normal degradation of government typical of left wing rulers.
Or... imagine a California run by smart, ethical, ambitious conservatives... it would be the crown jewel of the planet.

Place went so downhill so quickly. Left in 2008. Never going back.
