Why do they lie about poll numbers? Who is going to look at a poll and say "Huh, Biden is the most popular. I am going to vote for him because of that"

I feel if they really wanted to get Biden to win, they would say he is trailing Trump by 1-2% so it will motivate those on the fence to go out and vote. Tell everyone their candidate is a "sure thing" like they did in 2016, and people will stay home and not vote.

I think there is also a subconscious element of trusting the herd. If all these people do it, it must be right.

It's probably a narrative thing. "Most people think Trump is better" would clash pretty hard with "Trump is literally the worst person alive"
