Don’t they intentionally put the power out now during forest fires because the state and more so the people blamed the electric company for causing fires from lines on the ground. So they said okaayyyyyyyyyyy we will take ourselves out of the equation and turn your power off. Now we cannot make your alleged fires. Then the people had the surprised pikachu face saying wtf we need power for stuff!!! And the power company said nahh.
That was last fire season. This time it is high heat, smoke, and low wind which cranks up the AC, blocks the solar panels, and doesn't turn the wind turbines. They turn off the power lines when the wind is hgh.
That was spite and a manipulative play: PGE really legit deliberately refused to schedule or fund line crew intrastructure work for DECADES, created shell corp divisions to move BILLIONS in profits annually into and poof it off the books, corrupted the CPUC to crony favoritism vs protecting taxpayers, caused a number of severe and massively destructive fires from poorly maintained lines and transfer points, then said they were too broke to even trim trees let alone more so not their fault- and cut off power vindictively when they got told it WAS their responsibility.
A monopoly in fact if not on paper makes for a very bad utility model.
Nimby neighborhoods that don’t want heavy equipment trucks so they need to use expensive helicopters. That and dragging maintenance work through local approval processes and the courts.
