yep. even if you completely scrapped every welfare program (they wouldn't) this would still double the federal budget at minimum. the only way you could fund that is either printing money or massive tax increases on people not rich enough to take their money and run. as ChuckedBeef said, it's mutual enslavement.

That's how it works, though, and why I thought Yang was a weird (but interesting) Democrat candidate. Of course he only said it once in a while in his talks, but the end goal of UBI is that you dismantle all welfare programs EXCEPT UBI. UBI becomes the entire safety net. We've got about 270mm people over 18... and mandatory spending is currently about 2.7T. So there you go lol.

Of course, like you said, the people currently getting their gibs would never want to part with them, they just want more.

exactly. i know for a fact that most people who are actually "living" on welfare are getting more than $1k/mo in bennies. my mom on disability gets around 1500, my dad on disability gets around 1700, and my sister on disability gets probably close to 2000 once you factor in all the individual freebies. that's not including all the free healthcare they get. right or wrong the numbers just don't add up. you won't be able to continue to provide the level of gibs they're getting without increasing taxes
