Last weekend was Tax-Free weekend in Massachusetts.
I went to a local firearms store (they exist here) to buy a new one and the place was packed.
There were at least 5 first time buyers when I went, including a pregnant woman.
Ammo shelves were cleaned out of the popular calibers (9mm, 45 ACP, 44 MAG, etc.).
The phone was ringing off the hook inquiring ammo/firearm stock they had.
The State Background Check system actually CRASHED when I was there.
This is in Massachusetts. I repeat. MASSACHUSETTS.

We have a tax-free weekend, but it's only "back-to-school" items, including clothing.
Adult-sized clothing is tax-free, too. But, only if it is under a price threshold.
Everything under $2500 was tax-free in Massachusetts IIRC.
