Get you a friend that owns a boat. All the fun, none of the hassle.
Or pay for a charter trip.
You can pay for 8 chartered trips a year, with a captain that knows his shit, provides bait and tackle, and consistently put you on the fish, for less than it costs to own a boat.
Very much this. The only people who should own boats are retired people who are passionate fishermen and people who live on a lake. Boating is one of those hobbies like surfing that isn't so much a hobby but a lifestyle.
If you are considering buying a boat you should just get a membership into a boating club. It is a usually a fixed monthly retainer and then you pay for gas a small fee when you take one of the boats out.
A boat club pools a fleet of boats together for maintenance and cost purposes. Gives you a choice of boat and lets you get starting into boating without going whole hog right off the bat.
There are pretty big differences between a skiff, cabin cruiser, and a pontoon boat but they all have their purposes and best use cases. All depends on what you want to do. You need to spend some time on each one you think you might like to determine if it is a good fit for you really.
The club gives you access to a boat when you want it but without it sitting there unused and corroding when you are away. You don't have to be locked in to a capital asset that is depreciating like a Pinto if you ever want out of the boat club.
This is just a way more efficient use of the boats in general, IMO, too.
Then, once you get your sea legs, if you start living on the thing every weekend, you'll know you're a good fit for boat ownership, and likely which one is best for you and your family.
Where did you live tho? That’s a very important distinction that’s always overlooked.
Down here in Florida you can be on the water after work any day of the year. If you’re up north with a boat it’s totally retarded. Can only use it on weekends and have to drive an hour or more to the water - for only a few months per year.
I live on the water and people use their boats multiple times per week. Fishing, leisure, and also going to bars and restaurants. It’s a car that floats.
Florida here. Couldn't agree more. Love to dock at a nice restaurant have a few drinks and a great meal and enjoy the beautiful sky and water the good lord gifted us on the way back to the ramp.
It is something I have considered several times as well and I live on the great lakes so seasonal but good water access.
I could manage the cost but the main problem I see with the cost and labor/maintenance involved is you really need it to be your main hobby to justify it. Realistically since I have other interests I'm only going to be out 10 or so times a season and that sounds dumb.
If I made a lot more money I would probably splurge but while successful I at least need to think twice about these things.
Exactly. And charter a sailboat if you want to sail. Even a day sail. You think "why am I going to pay $750 to some dude to sail his boat." And then when you're done, it has been a great day, you learned how to sail a bit, you had an nice drink or two while cruising off the coast... you say goodbye and that dude has to spend the rest of the day cleaning his boat, prepping it for the next day, stowing shit, fixing broken cleats, putting away the sails, cleaning and drying everything, pumping out the toilet...
Exception: if you live VERY close to good water and have 365 day a year boating weather. See Florida below...
Or by a house on the water. Buying a boat without water is like buying an airplane without an airstrip. Of course it doesn’t make any sense, I have no idea why people do that.
If you like boats, live somewhere with a dock in your backyard. Then it makes sense and isn’t stupid.
I never understood the desire to buy a boat until I realized we all secretly want to be Pirates and having a canoe or large inboard makes no difference.
Also, we all sort of want to be the captain of the Titanic
"GET OUT OF MY WAY FUCKERS, IVE GOT A DATE WITH DESTINY!"
It’s not that I don’t WANT a boat. I totally do. I want a Harley, too. It’s a question of whether or not I SHOULD indulge myself. I probably could, esp the Harley, but is it REALLY the best idea?
I always wondered how much one could scoop up if taking one of those big industrial magnets and trolling along any major waterway with it hanging below the boat, with all the jokes about "tragic boating accident" (like the one I did earlier, admittedly).
Once you have a boat you can use it to store all your firearms. Just toss them over the side of the boat when over deep water. Firearms will be safe and sound!
Yeah ! We had some many boats on Lanier yesterday I about shit when I got to the dam .. then out of the clear blue sky these badass planes fly in formation - pop smoke and rip over our heads!! I put on the top gun theme song for the next pass they made. It was serious MAGA energy
Thats how Trump beats Cuomo, he was expecting Trump to bring just an Army, little did he know that the God Emperor had a Navy!
And an Air Force. https://nypost.com/2020/09/06/banner-saying-the-gov-killed-nana-seen-flying-over-new-york-beaches/
NANA!!!
...and if he so needs it...he also has Space Force!
Buy A Boat !!!!
Everyone Should !!!
Pilot and customer will be hunted down faster than you can say "White Lives Matter, Burnley"
Lol that was the original text for this newspaper cat
Former boat owner here: all the jokes and memes are true:
*Bust Out Another Thousand
*A boat is a hole in the water you throw money into.
*Happiest days in a boater’s life are the day he buys it and the day he sells it. (So so true, I did a happy dance when the buyer signed the title.)

I bought a shitty boat instead of a $40,000 one and couldn’t be happier.
I mean if you do no preventative maintenance, don’t keep the batteries charged, and have no mechanical skills, yea.
Zero issues with my boat after 5 years of ownership. I do all the maintenance myself.
Don't get in the boat with gun owners, though. They're some of the crappiest boat drivers judging from how many firearms get lost in tragic boating accidents.
I wish i lived near a lake
The only thing better than owning a boat, Is having a fren who owns a boat.

I feel the same 😭
It’s a great cat meme.
Aw, Pepe. There are plenty of frens with boats!
I too am feeling left out, seeing all those glorious pedes on their boats.
The best boat you will ever have is your buddies boat.
I need a boater friend i got land off lake cumberland but no boat :(
you mean cucumber land
no that is castro district of san fran
Lakeadict cumberbatch
A friend who owns a boat is the perfect amount of boat ownership.
Lol meow ribbet
“Buy a boat”
I’ve felt this urge. The old joke goes like this:
The two greatest days of your life are the day you buy your boat and the day you sell it.
If I had lakefront property or something, or if I lived really close to the gulf, but otherwise I dunno.
BOAT = Bring On Another Thousand.
I never understood the desire to buy a boat until I realized we all secretly want to be Pirates and having a canoe or large inboard makes no difference.
Also, we all sort of want to be the captain of the Titanic

Reddit: boat crashes are a metaphor for Drumph's campaign
Because antifa can't swim!
OP just retired this meme.
RIP.
Retired in a good way. There will never be a better context for this.
If it floats, flies, or fucks, rent.
We should dredge them up and supply the patriots with an armoury
I always wondered how much one could scoop up if taking one of those big industrial magnets and trolling along any major waterway with it hanging below the boat, with all the jokes about "tragic boating accident" (like the one I did earlier, admittedly).
Nothing better than hearing my mother in law had a bad weekend because it was "Trump weekend" on the lake. She ran to facebook to voice her pain.
Boat parade work because socialists can’t afford boats
I have a humble Crestline Fishhawk 18ft boat but I need to find a way to get Trump info on it!
Once you have a boat you can use it to store all your firearms. Just toss them over the side of the boat when over deep water. Firearms will be safe and sound!
I lost my boat in a tragic firearms accident, which also consumed the firearms.
Nothing was left of either of them... except a big hole in the ground and some smoldering carbon.
Like that 9/11 plane that crashed in Pennsylvania.
Tragic, but more common than you would expect.
So, you're thinking about buying a boat? Just remember: The two happiest days in a boat owner's life are the day he buys it and the day he sells it...
I’m seeking based boaters to be friends with ! Lol
Freedom boat club is way better then buying your own boat in most cases.
My yesterday, out on a friend's boat. A great day and many Trump flags. I saw one Biden flag - who knew they even made such a thing?
I so want to do a boat parade, but haven't found any around northern Illinois.
Don't know why. Find the use of fren to sound seriously gay. I imagine the speaker throwing their wrist over when they speak it.
You read my mind!!
Make friends
Having a boat is expensive and a lot of work
The only thing better than having your own boat is having access to someone else's boat. Boats are cool, but their money pits.
I went out and waved flags on the bridge over the boaters. We make it happen regardless!! 4 more years ❤️🤍💙
Trump economy booming so much we can afford to blow money on boat maintenance costs.
Yeah ! We had some many boats on Lanier yesterday I about shit when I got to the dam .. then out of the clear blue sky these badass planes fly in formation - pop smoke and rip over our heads!! I put on the top gun theme song for the next pass they made. It was serious MAGA energy
These parades happen in Pensacola all the time, but I don't know anyone with a boat, so I can't get out there.
