I live here. Last night was one of the worst I have ever had. My power went off about 6PM and didn't come back on till 4AM. Never mind that we have had one of the worst heat waves of all times here. Due to mismanagement of our power grids (green energy you know) we have to suffer this shit. I slept for 2 hours at a time. Even with my air conditioning earlier in the day, they had installed on of those crappy nests that keeps it semi cool but doesn't really do the job. I had to go sit in front of a fan all day yesterday. This is total bullshit. California is shithole. DO NOT COME HERE. One of the worst run Democratic states in the US. LET'S TURN THIS STATE RED PEDES, AND GET BACK TO A FUNCTIONING STATE.

I remember all the blackouts and nonsense when I lived in the Central Valley. I later got some solar panels for my house to ease those huge electric bills. In a heatwave like you're having, a house like mine (2100 sqft two-story), bills could easily push $500-600/month. I even put in a whole house fan, which worked great in the evenings if the temps dropped below 80. Ran it all night and it could keep the temps comfortable without AC.
I was lucky when I put in those solar panels under the Netmetering 1 plan because later the power companies decided that too many Californians were able to run off the grid during the day and get credit for the extra power they generated. So they convinced the state to allow them to implement Netmetering 2 where you basically just use your solar for your house and any extra that goes back to the grid is free power for the power company (no credits). So the dem politicians push for more solar on homes, but then completely disincentivize it for homeowners and it hurts solar panel companies who install them. That's California and another reason why I moved.
