That is how the left and socialism works. To placate you to make you "comfortable" with mediocrity, then to attack (crabs in a bucket style), anyone else who tries to better their situation, as it fosters and preys on an inferiority complex that becomes the core of your being.

It's not about elevating everyone to be the best they can be, because realistically, there just isn't enough to go around to achieve that. Not everyone can or will be a multimillionaire or billionaire. It's just the reality of it. But, if you can convince people to fall in love with their mediocrity, you can have as many poor people as you want. The left seeks to control this dynamic and the people in it. And to be a 100% fair, those who are successful in the far right of that spectrum, tend to be more apathetic and disconnected as they progress. Not because they hate people, but because they become comfortable and like to be more private. No power grab, in a lot of cases. Just contentment in their success. So they don't tend to be organized, making it easier for the left to try and drag them down or at a minimum, destroy that contentment. It is scary to see this exploited for power grabs by the left.

to attack (crabs in a bucket style)

What they say is that under their Socialism / Communism, everyone is equal

What they mean is

everyone must be equal

(Except of course the party elites, who are "more equal" than everyone else)

You're overthinking it.

It's simple tribalism. The thing humans do best of all.

Yes, i agree, but leftism is tribalistic at its core. Identity politics is the primary vehicle pushing their politics. Now it is diversity/racial agenda, before that it was class struggles.
