Vitamin D is strongly related to hormones and our bodies ability to use other micro nutrients. Exposure to sunlight allows are bodies to create Vitamin D (10,000's of IU), but most sunscreen blocks are bodies from absorbing it. We also need sufficient amount of dietary cholesterol, Vitamin A, and Vitamin K2 (the form MK4) to use Vitamin D to its full effectiveness. Pastured egg yolks are the best food for accomplishing this as they have a large amount of those micro nutrients.
If you take a Vitamin D supplement, take 5,000 to 10,000 IU. Also try to get one with Vitamin K2-MK4 at 100 to 1000 mcg (100 is the daily value and 1000 reverses heart disease by removing excess calcium from the tissue like the arterial wall. Its the most effective treatment for reversing calcification and inducing bone remodeling). Vitamin D supplements need to use magnesium, so you should also take magnesium glycinate at 400mg.
In summary, go out into the sun showing us much skin as possible (within the law), eat local farm grain free eggs, and take Vitamin D (5000 IU), Vitamin K2 MK4 (100mcg), and Magnesium Glycinate (400mg).
(Use sunscreen on face and neck only if you are worried about wrinkles).
I don't know about consuming epsom salt internally, but taking a bath or soaking in epsom salt will give your body magnesium trans-dermal. Magnesium glycinate is the best form to consume because it is the same form that is found in food and has a high absorption rate. Magnesium citrate is also a good form.

During the COVID farce I built a shed, built a patio, regularly mowed and landscaped my yard. Never got sick. Guess Vitamin D really does work!
