Today I was out buying items for my baking business. Up until now I've managed to get by without a mask at most big box stores in my area. Today I went to a Gordon Food Service store in West Michigan because I needed cocoa powder.

I entered the store, which I've been in before with no mask, and I went directly to the aisle where the baking supplies are. I wasn't there to fuck around, in and out. Nobody else was in the aisle. Employee, pretty sure it was a manager or assistant manager, comes up to his me with a box of masks. Fat, butch lesbian.

"Sir, here's a mask if you need one."

"No, I don't need a mask."

"I'm gonna need you to put on a mask or leave the store."

"I'm not putting on a mask and I'm not leaving. You're welcome to call the police."

She didn't like that and I was prepared to wait there and waste her time while we waited for the police to come. She walked away to the front desk. I assumed she was calling the police.

I grabbed the cocoa powder and headed towards the front of the store to check out.

"Excuse me. I won't let them check you out if you don't have a mask on. You can either put a mask on or you can leave."

"So you don't want my money?"

"N-no." (she wasn't prepared for that question)

"You don't want me to be your customer and give you my money?"

Another manager behind the front desk chimes in.

"No. If you're not going to put your mask on you need to leave the store."

"Wow! This is unreal. I have rights."

"Yes you do. And right now you have the right to leave the store."

By now, people in the store were witnessing the interaction. I forcefully put my item down on the nearest counter and walked towards the front desk where both women stood. Both fat, butch dykes (I'm gay, I know a fucking dyke when I see one). So at this moment I'm on my way out, walking past their silly desk.

"This is bullshit." "Fuck you!" "And fuck your stupid rules."

"Have a nice day!" "Please leave." "I'm just doing my job."

"That's what the Nazis said as they rounded up thousands of people."

Out of nowhere some random Hispanic moron gets involved, has to be the heroic tough guy, save the dildo humpers from the evil anti-masker. He doesn't even work there.

"Nah nah nah. Bro, get the fuck out. They asked you to leave."

This guy gets right up in my face.

"This is none of your business. I am leav--"

"It IS my business when you start harassing these poor women who are just doing their job. Now get the fuck out. You wanna mess with somebody, why don't you mess with me outside? I'll show you what's up."

The guy basically chest bumped me with how fucking close he was. He definitely touched me. I should've made an issue at that point about him assaulting me but I was not as strong as this guy and I didn't feel like being a martyr so I left. But not before I said:

"You know, the Nazis were just doing their jobs too!"

Tough guy says "Get the fuck out of here with that Nazi shit! Nobody cares."

I left in a fit "fuck you and fuck your masks!"

So that's the story. I probably didn't handle that as respectfully and as lovingly as possible but I'm sick of this crazy fucking bullshit. Somebody needs to stand up to these people. The masks have emboldened people who have authoritarian tendencies to act upon them. And most people are just walking around and taking it up the ass.

I've been fortunate but I fully expect more and more encounters like this and I don't like it. I just want to live my life in fucking peace, not at the mercy of these power-hungry fools. I get that these people are just doing what they're told and they have no control over corporate policy, that's understandable. I've worked in retail, I know the bullshit. I also know what it's like to deal with irate, asshole customers. But I never worked retail during circumstances like this and I would never capitulate with these kind of authoritarian policies. They shouldn't either. It's time for them to wake up! Thank God I own my own business. Anyway, thanks for reading. Needed to vent.

Screw up a few dollars, throw it at their feet, advise them they can keep the change, leave the store with the product. Don't give them your business again.
