It's called I'm sick to death of fucking China.

My state has a mask mandate. You're supposed to wear one indoors in public spaces and outdoors when you can't maintain social distance. My husband and I have been complying, mostly out of respect for employees just doing their jobs and not wanting stores to get in trouble. I've had to implement unpopular policies in my job before and can empathize. I absolutely do not believe masks have any health benefits and are absolutely a form of social control.

About two weeks ago I was standing in line at the grocery store. I saw a rack of disposable masks for sale. Out of curiosity, I pulled one out and looked where it was made. You know where this is going--Made in China. The country that inflicted all this bullshit on the world has the nerve to profit off of it. And the store has such a lack of integrity that they offer them for sale. I mean, I was aware China has a monopoly on manufacturing medical supplies but until I saw that rack while simultaneously struggling to breathe it didn't really register.

That was the moment I ripped my mask off my face. I'd like to say I haven't worn it since, but I've been about 90% mask free. I haven't worn it in any establishments where I'm shopping for necessities. The grocery store, Big Box stores, etc. I will wear it places where I am just going for fun, although I'm working on that too. It is stressful for me to be assertive so in those situations sometimes I just don't want to deal with talking to anyone.

Here's my strategy. When I go into a store I look for the "checker" and just walk right up to them. My line is "I have a medical condition and can't wear a mask, is it okay if I go in?" I'm an admin weenie by trade and know the magic approach. But half the time I don't even get the words out and they wave me in. Other times there's no one even paying attention.

In case you can't tell from my writing, I'm the most mild-mannered and non-confrontational person you'd ever meet in real life. But all I have to do is think of China and let the rage flow through me and I can do it. So anyone can.

And being able to breathe freely? Feels good man!
