Controlling ( or rather dissolving and reshaping at will ) is a core imperative of socialism, you cannot have it under judgement from a set of values outside of its grasp.
How else can you do what is evil with impunity and under the light if you don't dress it as "good" somehow?
So you get "good" violence ( punch a nazi),praise "good" theft/destruction (reparations, "it's just an object"), "good killing" ( abortion, shootint "fascists"),
"good" disorder in life ( 56 genders).
For the single, it's a good deal because it allows them to do "evil" things without the moral weight of being evil but rather, by calling it "good", it frees from the conscience.
For the left ( socialism) it's a good deal since it allows them to have a malleable set of values they can shape based on necessity ( the state aka themselves/the elites).
None of this can happen if you have a powerful (because it appeals to basic shared values -do not kill/steal/ etc) set of value you have no control over that reminds you of what you are.
Regardless of how each one approaches religion, it's the same relationship Christ had with the ebraic clergy: they were bending the rules ("good") to their lifestyle and got called out... and they hated Him for it.
