I have a feeling that certain zip codes are going to be excluded from the rolling blackouts.

The marxist fat cats have entire rooms and small buildings to house their generators. There's no such thing as a blackout at a Pelosi residence.

Beverly Hills is an enclave with its own local government, schools, and emergency services. Do you think they would rely on the same services as the peasants?

5
CillBlinton 5 points ago +6 / -1

The riots tried to go to Beverly Hills never made. They burned down Melrose but Beverly Hills? Na.

1
TheGreenPede 1 point ago +1 / -0

the riots did get to beverly hills. angry BLM protestors writing "fuck jews" and "free palestine" up and down beverly drive. BH is actually very based. aside from the shit libs that move there to "chase their dreams" a majority of BH, young and old will vote red.

2
CillBlinton 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah technically they did get there but I meant they didn’t stay for long, shit turned real quick compared to other parts of LA. I Gotta disagree with BH being based tho (even tho my dumbass still doesn’t exactly know what that word means lol) because all the celebrity ass holes who have millions of people listening to them pump out this bull shit and go back home to walled up houses in BH. So yeah I see the bad ass big balled rallies in BH but those people are NOT from BH,some but not majority.

1
TheGreenPede 1 point ago +1 / -0

believe it or not a majority of the girls I graduated with are pedes too! mostly because their families are in small business and or real estate. I understand lots of people here have very liberal values but thankfully most people in the city tend to vote with their pockets still! also gotta keep in mind most celebs live in hollywood/calabasas now!

1
TheGreenPede 1 point ago +1 / -0

I mean not gonna lie theres a lot of white apologists and "karens", aswell, and the typical social media sjw attention wh*re will definitely go hard left for BLM. but the silent majority is alive and well in the city!

2

Also if you live in BH can I be your friend, lost all mine to TDS

Think about the people who have refrigerated medications or are on some sort of life support device at home. We have a freezer full of breast milk that my wife pumped for when she's at work.

16
KnottyJane 16 points ago +16 / -0

I don't have a big stash right now but I normally have thousands of dollars worth of insulin in my fridge... And I've had to move it to another house when our power was out for a few days after a storm. It's a pain.

10
pray4peace4 10 points ago +10 / -0

our utility company told us that we've been warned & we're on our own to find electricity for our own homes 'cause they aren't going to help. This is how the utility pays us back for suing them for billions for not trimming the trees back from the powerlines like they agreed to do. It's payback.

Yeah the triple digits are not fun, where I live we are averaging 110 to 112 and it doesn't peak until about 5:30 at night. It also doesn't cool down until about 5:30 in the morning at which point the low has been around 83 to 85 😂. We haven't had our power forcibly shut down yet. 🤞🏻

19

9
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 9 points ago +9 / -0

My generator is running right now here in Oregon. Power went out a few hours ago.

6
wholesomekangz100 6 points ago +6 / -0

BS reasons like Cali or something else?

2
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 2 points ago +2 / -0

We have high winds coming from the east and blowing hot, dry air and smoke from inland fires here. There were reports of arcing power lines as well, so most likely either the wind took out a line or they shut it down as a precaution until they could check the lines. It's back on now after being out for about four hours.

The air quality is terrible with all the smoke, but at least it actually makes sense to wear a mask today!

2
CillBlinton 2 points ago +2 / -0

Would you mind just making sure it’s not a dude in an all black ninja looking costume caught in the power lines frying alive. Hope.

No one wants to hear it but fuck it, nationally subsidied green energy helps no one stop trying to live in a dystopia and start trying to fight for more power! More clean water! Nuclear energy is here and we have turned away from it to live in a fucking fantasy land of not having enough. I want so much dead cow on the shelves it cost half.

69
dukeofdoorcounty 69 points ago +69 / -0

Renewables in Germany has caused their electricity to quadruple in price because on days with no wind or sun they have to buy nuclear from France. If France wasn't next door they would be just like CA.

It’s really sad that we got the wrong takeaway from 3 mile. Our safety standards worked. Everyone was fine.

16
Cantshadowbanthemall 16 points ago +16 / -0

This is because PG&E did not bury their power lines which was necessary due to CA policy change about using controlled burns to eliminate excess foliage.

CA changed the burn policy, points the blame at PG&E who does shoulder the blame for charging customers to upgrade the grid, then not upgrading it

8
WhatUCan 8 points ago +8 / -0

Updoot democrats gonna Democrat, am I right?

4
Onedude123 4 points ago +4 / -0

What happens to the waste for nuclear energy ?

5
LostViking1985 5 points ago +5 / -0

Buried in the ground in waste bunkers. There's lots of remote, unpopulated land in this country.

2
Lurkmoar347 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ideally we would reprocess it and use it as fuel for next gen molten salt reactors, but generally it ends up sitting in a forgoten warehouse because NIBY shuts down any long term storage proposal.

2
WhatUCan 2 points ago +2 / -0

Now with current technology most waste can be recycled many times over and used repeatedly to get the most energy out of it. Everytime it is recycled it lowers the half life meaning it will be less radioactive and for a shorter period of time.

What used to take hundreds of years to become safe can now be safe in less then half the time, i have a feeling its even shorter then that.

However I believe America takes its waste to a hole in the desert hundreds of miles away from any living person buried under a mountain. If you meant what physically happens to it. Im not sure what France or Japan does other then recycle many times.

2
kcfreels 2 points ago +2 / -0

Every single bit of it is in casks beside the reactor that made it. We need to open Yucca Mountain now.

BitcoinTrump 3 points ago +3 / -0

C'mon man!

38
Barbs 38 points ago +41 / -3

Just to clarify, since I’m a Californian.

The power is being shut off for a “red flag” event, not because we don’t have the electricity. A “red flag” event is where high winds and low humidity provide the perfect storm of wildfire potential, so they shut down the grid running through those areas.

The hope is to prevent another catastrophe like the Camp Fire in 2018. So rather than debate whether or not we’re a third-world country, this debate should be how after almost two years California still hasn’t done a goddam thing to address the forestry problem, other than shut off the power when things look bad.

That’s what passes as a “solution” in California government.

10
chinesevirus 10 points ago +10 / -0

Remember when the media blasted Trump for suggesting that so many of these wildfires could have been prevented/lessened had the states that suffer from them practiced proper forestry management? Pepperidge farm remembers.

10
Brookes 10 points ago +10 / -0

Not true! They have been begging folks for days to conserve electricity! These are rolling black outs due to the high heat index state wide. Everyone has their AC running.

We’re already into 2 million burned acres. This is not for a wind event. My husband has power in his office 7 minutes from our house. It’s a luck of the draw thing. We’re told we will have power again Wednesday night at 7.

6
elsabio [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Thanks for the clarification. Stay safe out there.

5
Jduufiisjhxhgd 5 points ago +6 / -1

The electrical system is huge, there's high voltage lines within hundreds of feet of every single light bulb in the world.

2
Mac3 2 points ago +2 / -0

Right.

The rolling blackouts for power last 3 hours, not 3 days.

It just so happens that reason for the rolling blackouts is the energy demand in the face of extreme heat, which has also increased fire risk. I would not want my power cut for 3 days when it’s 114 degrees out.

They need to start managing the forests and fast.

10
Brookes 10 points ago +10 / -0

This! Ballot harvesting is massive here.

6
booblitchutz 6 points ago +6 / -0

Ballot harvesting is one method, useful for precincts that are not wholly controlled by the party, like Orange County precincts. Ones that ARE wholly controlled by the party outright stuff the ballots with bogus voters, this year it will be even easier since it'll all be by mail. They don't even have to bus their bogus voters from precinct to precinct practicing signature forgery this year, just do it by mail.

I'm sure there's even more than I'm thinking of. The beauty of this is that since they have so many avenues now, you can't stop them all.

ignorant_slob 4 points ago +4 / -0

They sue PG&E for money after fires. The state won’t do proper forestry, landowners fight cutting fire breaks, neighborhoods fight tree trimming near line, and homeowners won’t keep flammable materials away from their houses. When annual high winds blow trees into electric equipment, they blame the company they regulated into a situation that wasn’t winnable.

We also need to make fire liability like seatbelt liability. Even if the accident was the other person’s fault, the additional damage from not wearing a seatbelt is yours.

Our version of this is cover your property with solar and fill your garage walls with Tesla power walls. Very expensive but as long as it is sunny and you have enough power walls you can go off grid indefinitely.
