The internet was supposed to help with freedom. But in reality it was the path to the end of our freedom

129
Agent_Orange 129 points ago +129 / -0

I don't know. I grew up before the internet and we had to rely on newspapers and the nightly news from the big media outlets for our news. There was no way to hear or be heard for conservatives. We didn't know about the Swamp. We didn't know who the real good guys were.

With the internet we have the likes of thedonald.win, Trump tweets, Tom Fitton, and a whole slew of crusaders on YouTube (to name just a few).

Frick_The_Dems2020 [S] 107 points ago +107 / -0

The internet as a whole has greatly benefited us, the real cancer is social media.

NotoriousCIC 70 points ago +70 / -0

Social media is the worst. Truly the worst. You basically have virtue signaling and constant self promotion. Women have become absolute shit in the social media age and have turned their accounts into training for strippers while being thots fishing for attention.

MaxineWaters4Prez 40 points ago +40 / -0

Social media turned everyone into narcissists.

27
NotoriousCIC 27 points ago +27 / -0

Pretty much. Now your “worth” is based on how many followers you have. We now have a generation of people who want to be Instagram “influencers” and YouTube stars. Parents now pimp their kids out to get rich and profit off of them on YouTube. And look at how many marriages it has destroyed.

When you're jerking yourself off literally/figuratively you have less time to think about the world outside your ego. So you let Mark and Jack do your thinking for you--gatekeepers controlling what info gets in and what doesn't. You become a kind of self-enclosed monad they can move anywhere on the board, like in a game of Go.

Neat how that works.

6
LongKahn 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yes, yes very astute. Wonderful references 👍

3
NostalgicFuturist 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thanks, LongKahn, but now you've encourage me!

Leibnitz's monads are self-enclosed but also act as mirrors. (Narcissists love mirrors. "Likes" are flattering mirrors, Downvotes are telling you you're not the Fairest of Them All.) Monads don't communicate, they coordinate according to a preset algorithm. (Leibnitz was a prophet of the computer age: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottfried_Wilhelm_Leibniz). He called it "pre-established harmony": "The appropriate nature of each [monad] brings it about that what happens to one corresponds to what happens to all the others...without their acting upon one another directly."

Cucks on social media communicate directly of course, e.g., to organize a public shaming ritual. But they don't have to: they can simply be mass-influenced unconsciously by social media algorithms that promote or suppress information to suit the Leftist agenda. They're channeled like fish in shoals down the mainstream narrative that controls FB and Twitter.

Susceptible cucks are on a daily regimen of blue pills--addicted to them, actually, down to the neurological level. It's dehumanizing and downright horrifying--a real Matrix scenario.

And mostly their unconstitutional actions of shutting down one side of the discussion by restricting their freedom of speech to promote their agenda.

Myspace was pretty badass - music, dating, customization. The nerds got mad that that all the cool people were jamming and getting laid, and created facebook for the sheeple.

3
Cram 3 points ago +3 / -0

You are spot on! I remember getting so much play from the ladies on myspace back in the day, then everyone switched over to Facebook and it all went to shit.

3
NotoriousCIC 3 points ago +3 / -0

I loved MySpace. Lol. Complete opposite of Facebook.

14
AlphaNathan 14 points ago +14 / -0

AOL chatrooms started as cancer. We should have seen this coming.

7
GorillaWarfare 7 points ago +7 / -0

Banning shit should be banned. There should be harsh penalties for "moderating" anything online that isn't illegal. Targeted harassment? Death threats? Sure, ban away. Somebody hurt somebody else's feels? Too bad, so sad. If It were illegal to ban over hurt feelings the hurt feels crowd would have to just grow some thicker skin.

ETA: Just realized an unintended side benefit to this. If we did this, we'd also have to criminalize commercial spam as theft of advertising space else forums would be overrun with "HeRbAl ViAgRa" spam; who wouldn't love for sales spam to be punishable by law?

3
LongKahn 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think it’ll eventually happen. The internet is pretty much in its Wild West phase and the Rail Barons have garnered enough power... time to break them up and regulate the way they define “community” and “standards” and actually enforce infringements

1
Quietam_Unum 1 point ago +1 / -0

spam to be punishable by law?

Irony alert! The first ever internet spam was sent by lawyers.

(Ref: duckduck "Canter and Seigel")

5

Social media sucks ass, but the real cancer is censorship on social media.

8
Tethrinaa 8 points ago +8 / -0

Social Media is obesity. Censorship is the Diabetes.

5
HistoryInvestigator 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yes but technically thedonald.win is social media.

The real problem isn't social media per se, but that these platforms are acting as publishers, which would be fine if they were upfront about it and not getting federal protections/tax breaks while attempting to subvert our country.

10
Strike_Eagle784 10 points ago +10 / -0

Absolutely, it's a blessing that we have the internet. Without the internet, Trump wouldn't have gotten in.

Many of those on YouTube are now getting banned if they go against the official narrative. Seems like YouTube and Facebook are becoming echo chambers for mainstream media. Have to search other platforms now for independent viewpoints. Bitchute, dlive, discord servers have some.

2
mnguy12000 2 points ago +2 / -0

Back then you KNEW something was amiss, but you didnt know what is was. Now everything is out in the open and the Swamp has gotten in bed with Big Tech to make sure it stays hidden, but its not working so its plan B!

27
tcriv 27 points ago +27 / -0

Totally disagree.

Without the internet, how many of us would be brainwashed? It would be so easy for them to enslave our minds. The decentralization of the internet allows critical thinkers to be heard.

Sure... the mainstream hubs like reddit/twitter/facebook are engaged in full blown censorship, but patriots still have the ability to connect like never before.

How does the internet hurt us more than it helps us? What if potus didn't have the ability to broadcast directly to the american people?

I was there before the internet. Stupidity was high as fuck, make no mistake about it. At least now, you have the chance to access the information directly. It's a huge YUUUUUUUUGE win.

Yepper! I remember the first day I met a PC. I was 18. I said to myself, "self, this is Slavery..". Now, E. Musk says he wants to stick it in our heads. They keep saying, "it's Progress!". I say, "sure, but where are we going?"...🐸🇺🇸

I think you are right. Those are the captains. The lieutenants are visible: Soros, Gates, Musk, Bezos, politicos, etc. And we know who their god is....But it's no fright, Jesus of Nazareth already beat em down, He's just sifting wheat from chaff now, and they are the catalyst.. no worries, just gotta pray and do our part..Read the King James Bible and believe it!...🐸🇺🇸

3
zabbers 3 points ago +3 / -0

self, this is Slavery

That's a weird way to react to a PC. What did you see that the rest of us didn't?

1
DefKon1 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh, I think many others saw it too. But when I walked to the PC class room, I was late, the door was open, and I just stood at the door and looked in. Every single person, about 30, including the teacher, was "dead"quiet, bent over, not looking at anything but the screen. The only thing you could hear was clicking keyboards. I never saw that before in all of school,K-12, always someones fidgeting, goofing off, passing notes, doing some other work, whispering,,etc.) I stood in the doorway for about 5min. No one even noticed. Not even the teacher, no one ever looked around. It was like they were all mesmerized. Until I knocked. It was weird.

It’s disturbing to see “false information” on conservative memes that are 100% a joke. Also given their reasons for “false information” why isn’t the Atlantic article and many others labeled the same?

It does no good just to bitch and complain here, if you and other conservatives want to make a difference, THEN WE MUST VOTE!

LOTS and LOTS of conservatives and Trump supporters have STILL not registered to vote. Check your status, register yourselves and get others who are passionate about Trump and conservative values if you/they haven't yet registered:

https://www.usa.gov/register-to-vote#item-212645 (or check the side bar)

Remember that this is a numbers game and we need to WIN!
