Who would hire someone who feels the need to disclose their sexual orientation? My guess is lbgtq werent filling it out and it makes their numbers look smaller, cant havethat, when you can just make up numbers and say they are 5% of the population.
In many cases employers get $$ for hiring "minority" people and "minority" companies. There are business conferences for LBYAYAQGT companies to display themselves so hiring companies can more easily find them.
