Except for recess and lunch. My wife is also an elementary teacher and is livid!! Her and another teacher are organizing an emergency meeting with the school board to voice their opinions. Our local health department now has more authority than any elected official in our state. Who the fuck are these unelected bureaucrats that think their guidelines are now LAW?!

Pull your kids out. Encourage other parents to do the same.
Cite medical reasons: "Mask mouth", pleurisy, low O2 below OSHA's guidelines of 82%...all day, 5 days a week....which results in brain damage, etc.
I really want to. I'm scared of the emotional risk to my 1st grade daughter. She has become accustomed to the mask policies and would be more devastated by the lack of social interaction I feel. Fuck all of this.

I have 3 teens.Believe me when I say your daughter is not going to remember anything from 1st grade after age ten.
You need to do what is in her best interest, her safety, even if she is disappointed for a little while.
Chances are pretty good that all of this plandemic nonsense will cease after the election.
What is in our children's best interest is to see their parents stand up for them, and for what is right, even when it is difficult. Lessons on character, conscience, civic duty, etc. are more important and lasting than the <1 hour of schooling per day the indoctrination day care provides.
The difficult part is that we are not fighting logic and reason. Beyond the spiritual war, we are fighting proud, arrogant, control hungry administrators. We have plenty of physician statements and data that support the futility in forcing children to wear masks. Yet, they along with politicians continue to force these mask mandates.
Getting parents to rise up is at least an attempt, and can sleep at night knowing you did something; but we are facing a huge hill against these mindless tyrants.

Get other parents. Go armed with a list of research links on child risk as well as masks. Their argument can only be based on the notion that asymptomatic people can be spreaders and they are just trying to guard vulnerable people at home (and teachers). Put your list on a cheap flash drive because they are probably too lazy to type in urls.

this is the only reason my kids are in virtual school...my wife and I have changed our schedules so we work opposite days so someone is always home to help them
You're already 80% there- switch to home school. A first-grader needs less than an hour of schooling per day, up about 15min per grade after that, to about 5hrs for a 12th grader. It can be done cheaply if needed, you have full control over content, and more importantly- FREEDOM for your child to deep-dive into topics of interest, engage fully, have input into scheduling and master their own time and study habits. Bring back home ec and shop class, find accurate sources for history and news, engage in scientific method and critical thinking... All great prep for college and for REAL LIFE.
This is like gun control. Push the limits of what defines a mask. Maybe crochet something, or make one out of tulle (that’s some meshy stuff for you machopedes) and if they’ve got the nuts to tell you it’s not appropriate, protest it publicly. Force them to define minimum standards, ask them how they got to those standards and then have the science ready to show they’re bullshitting.
That may not get them to give up, but it will shine a bright light on their unchecked authority.
Typed up a long, fact filled letter with help from all of you and other posts from TD. My wife is gathering a group of parents/teachers to go to the next board meeting. I will be speaking using the letter as my script. BTW, researched the health director in charge of all of the implementations. Shocking that she has a bachelor's degree in business administration and a masters in human resources. Also lists her political affiliation as democrat.

Good luck friend. They've got us by the balls. My son started school kindergarten this year and has already been sick because of the mask. They are obviously annoying for all kinds of reasons but unavoidable. Even in a district we consider excellent they bought 3 sided plexiglass for every desk. It is madness and this will continue until Trump is out of office whether 2020 or 2024. They (the left) are punishing us. Another option is to buy faceshields that at least give your child their identity back and some room to breathe. Think out of the box and put some foam at the top of the shield to project it away from their face so they can at least have some room to think.
I've fucking had it. Took my son to his first day of preschool today and masks are "required". I didn't wear one and no one said shit. Fuck em. Let em try. (can you tell I'm pissed off??)
