This is what they want you to think is happening. Really I think the opposite effect is happening.
The people this is speaking to is the people who grew up with parents that they themselves had shit values and did a shit job raising their kids.
Plus their is just a lot of parental hate on Reddit as so many users appear to be teenagers. Mad their parents make them go to church, mad their parents are dissatisfied with their school performance, mad their parents aren’t rich enough to let them coast thru life, etc.
Just read the comments of some of these people. They basically are all “I did nothing wrong and my parents and their generation ruined everything and I have no chance, so I must be taken care of by government now”
