As the child of morally self righteous, “evangelical” and “family values” parents, there’s a part of me that agrees with this. The neo-con boomers were self-righteous and self-centered in the same way this new crop of leftist wackos are. They thought that belonging to a certain church or group or political party was akin to salvation.

Honor your father and mother, but know truth for yourself. Don’t approach politics with the same kind of blind, mindless, partisan zeal that some of our parents approached life. Be an actual good person, don’t just pretend that you are one because of the group you belong to.
