In doing research because I'm arguing with my buddies who are still stuck in fake news land. I'm trying to figure out just what the rules on mail-in voting are. Can they receive ballots after Nov 3rd?? . Well seems not so clear.
This site gives a breakdown of absentee ballot rules. most places require the ballots 11 days before the election. Some states like California the mail-in ballot stuff is by Exec Order.
In his Exec order, the first sentence states that it does not invalidate any existing mail-in ballot laws. "Notwithstanding any limitation on the distribution of vote-by-mail ballots in Elections Code sections 1500 and 4000-4007"
So I look up Elections Code 1500, 4000-4007.
Section 1 of code 4000 states "(1) An election in which no more than 1,000 registered voters are eligible to participate.":
Does that not invalidate the entire executive order??
Sure seems like it does. Same type of thing going on with Whitmer's 177+ executive orders. There's lots of contradictory language.
Well seems to not be the case as the whole 4000 clause is under the "Wholy mail-in" it seems if they keep a poling station open. Then there are zero restrictions on mail in voting.
