They hated it (but were nationalistic) during it, but most Russians I meet now are firmly Capitalistic and freedom loving. They're like weird Canadians/Americans.. because nobody understands a word they're saying.
I've worked for many Russians. They all admire my work ethic and appreciate how I do business. I do enjoy trying to figure out what they're trying to say when they have a thick accent. I also (so far) have been able to avoid the obligatory must keel moose and squirrel joke. ¤
