Now there are many other wastes of tax payer money that need to be dealt with before we start looking into pensions for cops. She was hurt in the line of duty at least attempting to keep the public safe while putting her life in harm's way.
I applaud her for doing so. I just think it was obviously avoidable, at least from my layman's perspective, so why isn't it being addressed by the police?

I am actually OK with short, petite (or chunky as in this case) women police officers, as long as the department recognizes the obvious limitations. Don't send out a woman cop like we saw here to control a mob, or to subdue male suspects. Use those women for things women are generally better at, like dealing with kids who are crime victims, or for searching female suspects, maybe for trying to talk down agitated, unstable people. Use them where their strengths can be advantageous.
Don't send them out in a riot. Her partner has to worry about not only (I am assuming) himself, but worry about her safety as well. This isn't an episode of Hunter, this is real life.
