This should happen in every city where the political leaders are supporting criminals over police.

This should happen in every city where criminals have taken over political leadership positions.

Very true, any police chiefs that are for a free nation need to stand up to corrupt politicians. If they fire them, lawsuits need to happen. Stepping down just gives the radicals what they want: more control

Most cities either have an elected police chief or they are appointed by the mayor. If they're appointed by the mayor, there's no lawsuit to be filed. If they got elected, they can only be fired via recall election, unless something in their city charter specifically states otherwise, such as some form of city council vote/impeachment.

So why don’t they tell their commie mayors to go fuck themselves with a cactus?

Probably live in a place where the filthy commie can appoint them or fire them.

Idk how these public service jobs work tbh. When they announce their retirement, did they just say it’s effective immediately at the end of the day? I’m guessing they can do that assuming they have enough years to receive a pension or whatever retirement benefits they get.

Yes. You can decide to retire and walk out of most police stations unless there is a policy to give notice of retirement.

So do they have to keep paying the retirement on all these cops that are quitting? That gonna make it hard to hire new cops when they realize defunding the cops was an idiot move that resulted in the city burning down. I think they will be begging these cops to come back to work in November when the rioters burn everything down.

If they have enough years of service in, yes. But pensions are not solely funded by a municipality.

In our City/State its a state wide public employees fund, the local government (city or county) pays into it while the person is employed, when they retire their pension comes from the fund but the local government doesn't have to pay in for that person any more. It includes LEO, Fire, and other employees of the local government, each individual has different rates depending on salary, and years served. I was a City Commissioner for 6 years, this was gone over each year as part of our budgeting process.

I realize many pedes here hate the fact that cops get pensions... but their retirement will be funded according to how long they worked. You usually need 20 years for a pension benefit, that is typically half pay.

Of course, you self fund the pension for that 20 years because your contribution is taken out of every check, whether you like it or not.

Police pensions are by and large exclusive of social security, many retirees do not qualify for that benefit.

Obviously can't blame them, but isn't this exactly what the "peaceful protesters" want? Get rid of the police so they can substitute them with their own?

12
25-06 12 points ago +12 / -0

Yes, but not really the way they want it. If the city goes through the process to partially defund it will take some time to work its way into the system. Most cities will have collective bargaining agreements that will prohibit firing without cause, so they would have to phase in a lower number of officers over a year or 2. With an group resignation it happens immediately which will show the citizens how bad of an idea it really is immediately and turn the citizens against the radicals. It may result in the city burning down but is a strategy that may result in a change of government for the better.

At some point a man of integrity has to say, "I can no longer work for you idiots under the impossible conditions you have created."

I have done this nine times over my thirty-year career (it's not as bad as it sounds since most of that time has been as an independent contractor).

My only regrets have been that I always wait too long under the false hope of salvaging something from the situation before bailing out.

It's what the voters voted for when they chose radicals. Give the (retarded) people what they want
