The debate hosts are Chris Wallace from Fox, some guy from c span, and a lesser known woman from MSDNC. I find it hard to believe any of these people would do it. Maybe I'm wrong.

As much as I hate Chris Wallace, I doubt he'd do that, not his style. But I could easily see the rest doing it, especially since they're nobodies that could try to use it to elevate their careers. But still a long shot since it could backfire badly. After all, people would be wondering why they didn't have a backup moderator, and it would all look staged no matter how they tried to play it out.
Moderator leaves stage in a huff and puff over something that didn't warrant it...Biden makes a few quips and leaves stage either with a smile or fake disappointed look on his face....then they just shut off the camera? Keep rolling? And if they kept rolling, I bet Trump would just turn it into a Trump rally. Then they just gave Trump free screen time with people glued to their seats about what's going to happen next.
If they just turn off the camera's it becomes all the more apparent it was staged, and people would be asking who and why was that order given to shut everything down. But that probably wouldn't happen, because they'd want people to see Trump standing there to embarrass him. But Trump won't be embarrassed, he'll just stand there and talk, so if they cut him off in the middle of talking just because the others walked out....it would make it apparent how staged it was. It's a no win situation if they tried.
I don't think this is anything but a larp though. Just someone thinking up a fantasy that is egregious and believable enough to get a reaction.

Ratings and viewership will be thru the roof on all networks. If the moderators walked off it, would it not infuriate the advertisers who purchased spots during the debates? I think this is just a LARP for that reason. It’ll also make the moderators look thin skinned and weak too.

Could be this is their escape strategy. Biden can't withdraw from the debate without losing face but if the moderators leave then there's an excuse for Biden to walk of the stage. If this anon is legit and his post is true (not saying it is, just if) then I'd expect the walk out to happen right at the start of the evening. They might be hoping that President Trump's opening remarks are "muy caliente" and target the fake news for criticism. President Trump might take wise counsel to avoid hammering the media until later in the evening to force the moderators to stay in place.

I normally take these stories with skepticism but I have no doubt the debate "moderators" will have to try and run interference for Dementia Joe. They did in 2016 with Shrillary. Trump said to one of them "I thought it was her job to debate me, not yours" and proceeded to take said "moderator" to the woodshed.
