It's only distressing that the US ever fed their economy to the point they could afford so many ships so quickly. Their ships are smaller and of lower quality and many will be on the bottom of the sea if they pick a fight with any of their neighbors. Look at what Argentina did with the Exocet during the Falklands and almost 40 years later missile tech has only become far better. The only part of their navy that I worry about is their submarines and the damage they could cause.
Argentina's hardest hitter were their French missiles which did a ton of damage to the UK's Navy and China will be teeing off against plenty of more advanced missiles from land, air and sea if they ever attempt any sort of aggression with any other force in the region aside from say The Philippines. Maybe someday China's Navy will be a real threat, but all they can do credibly at the moment is defend their coastline.

If he gets a second term the Chinese have a permanent set back on their aggressive goals without the economic drives to fuel their military expansion.
