I don't know about that specfic person, but in my case I kind of have to. My kid was a very late talker. And while he's mostly normal now, his grammar needs a lot of work. We're at the point where it's practice practice practice. I tell people it's like having an ESL kid without a "first language".
We also take him aside and teach him other things at home, so it's not like we're throwing him to the wolves. I also watch our school system like a hawk.
As for the masks, I hate them, but I do my best to teach him that these are not normal, and should not be considered as such. I do give my kid the disposable ones at least, and otherwise do not put him in situations where they would be needed.
Homeschooling is not the right choice for every family. You don’t even have children do you? I can tell, because if you did, you would understand this.
When children reach a certain age (mine are high school and college) homeschooling is not often a viable option. Teens want to attend schools with their friends. Would you hire a surgeon that got his medical degree at home doing labs in his own kitchen? An engineer that learned everything he knows from his mother who was not trained in engineering, but bought a book or two? Homeschooling is a terrific option, but not always the best option.
My kids go to great schools. Unfortunately, there are currently mask mandates that require mask be worn EVERYWHERE indoors. So guess what? That means even at technical colleges. Medical schools. Law schools. High school AP physics classes. The point of my original comment is that wearing masks creates additional health concerns, not get into a debate with a childless fool who thinks the answer to everything is “homeschool” or bust.
Calling it now: You don’t have children and if you are every lucky enough to have children you will probably be enrolling them in a public school or private school eventually.

Taking care of my kids? One son is in college 1,300 miles away. The other son is an elite athlete, has a job, and attends high school. Between his practices, employment, and studying, in addition to his social life, I think he is pretty capable of taking care of himself. Nice try though.
