I don't know about that specfic person, but in my case I kind of have to. My kid was a very late talker. And while he's mostly normal now, his grammar needs a lot of work. We're at the point where it's practice practice practice. I tell people it's like having an ESL kid without a "first language".

We also take him aside and teach him other things at home, so it's not like we're throwing him to the wolves. I also watch our school system like a hawk.

As for the masks, I hate them, but I do my best to teach him that these are not normal, and should not be considered as such. I do give my kid the disposable ones at least, and otherwise do not put him in situations where they would be needed.
