I have always felt like the Nobel Peace Prize was a way for Norwegians to influence politics abroad with something shiny. I already got my wish when Obama got the prize and it destroyed the prize's credibility among anyone sane who knew Obomber.

I don't fault you for thinking that. Nobel was a Swede. However, the award is given by the Norwegian Nobel Committee whose representatives are chosen by Norwegian Parliament. It is weird because I believe at the time of Nobel, Norway and Sweden were in a United Kingdom loose alliance. It just seems Norway got the Nobel Prize in the divorce.
