I don't fault you for thinking that. Nobel was a Swede. However, the award is given by the Norwegian Nobel Committee whose representatives are chosen by Norwegian Parliament. It is weird because I believe at the time of Nobel, Norway and Sweden were in a United Kingdom loose alliance. It just seems Norway got the Nobel Prize in the divorce.
