2/3 of deaths in last week in FL are over 85.

Old people are having their lives cut short by a few weeks due to covid.

and that’s not always true either, I bet double digit percentages of those deaths had nothing to do with covid.

You’re right, and that’s insane.

The fiscal conservative in me is still worried about lasting complications from this virus. I say this bc there are reports of long term damage which costs us much more than deaths.

I still don’t think there is enough long term information to make a determination if this is something you just get over or if it is actually causing chronic problems.

I worry about this bc mostly poor and elderly get this thing. If the poor develop lasting problems we all know who is footing that bill.

It’s a shitty but realistic thing to worry about.

It thoroughly sucked, but wasn't worth shutting down the country for.

They were and have always been dying at this age, now they just have some virus DNA in their nose so they die with covid.

I know some people get really sick with this, but the majority do not, and the ones who got seriously sick could have been treated and saved in many cases by HCQ treatment and were either denied or given something else.

All of this just to get rid of Trump.

The people behind this need to pay. They should be arrested and given a war crimes trial for all the suffering and loss they have forced on people.

My 94 year old grandma is quite insistent: she wants to see her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

She said she would rather die and be with family than waste away alone. We break all the rules to see her as often as possible. The look on her face says it all. If she goes any time, I know we made the right choice.

Referenced article says 75 is over average life expectancy. Current average life expectancy in America is 78. I fully agree with premise of headline and article, just beware some details are inaccurate.

It's almost the same as "natural causes". This bug generally does not kill people that aren't already nearly dead. End the tyranny!

To think, great grandma could have lived 34 more seconds without it.

Ive been working the whole time this has been going on.

Getting plenty of vitamin D.

I haven't been sick this whole time and we think we got it back in January.

6 months my roomate, for the first time, got sick since this started. He came down with some sniffles and felt crappy and after waiting 10 days they finally said he didn't have Covid.

He prob had a seasonal cold.

HOW MANY UNDERLYING ISSUES DOES GREAT GRANDMA HAVE?!!

Still sad. Nobody wants her great grandma to die. And Florida protected elderly much better than other states like NY, where Cuomo is personally responsible for thousands of deaths.

It is sad.

But much of the reported deaths were "harvesting" where they reviewed deaths and added them back into covid totals.
