Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan tried to push that narrative and the closest he got was a Jewish ethno-religion because it is strictly intertwined with the religion. There is surely a Jewish consciousness , but there is no Jewish ethnicity. One could call himself an Israeli or a descendant of Judah to advance a Jewish ethnicity Theory, but then again there are also both Arab and catholic Israelis, even if it is defined as a Jewish state.
DNA will in fact link your past origins to Israel or Judah, but as aforementioned, being from a specific region does not make you necessarily Jewish.

Here's an interesting twist for you. The vast majority of the 75% Leftist Jews are in the branch 'Reform Jews', who are far-far-far less religious than the Orthodox Jews, who tend to vote conservative / Trump.
Reform Jews are basically against nearly all ancient Jewish thought and customs, for example they've basically thrown out the Talmud. Some of them vehemently hate the Orthodox, claiming we're sexist etc. They (Reform) read Torah, but without these other texts, they don't know how to interpret the Torah. Instead, they make up what they want to believe.
So, being against 'Judaism' as a religion is the wrong way to be against Leftist Jews and their ideology. Being against Judaism the religion is being against the 25% who are here. Therefore, if somebody really wanted to clean up Leftist Jewish ideology, a better approach would be to bring Reform Jews back to traditional, Orthodox-like Judaism, and then they tend to be more reasonable.
I left Reform Judaism and became more traditional well before I walked away from the Democrats. Plenty of Orthodox Jews support Jewish supremacism (ruling the world from Jerusalem, imposing the Noahide Laws on all Gentiles, and similar crap), e.g. Chabad Lubavitch. Many of those Orthodox that did vote for DJT just voted for him because they like Jared Kushner and thought he could manipulate DJT to be pro-Israel (fortunately, I think Kushner, a Democrat and Israel firster, is out. Thanks for engaging. I am not a Rabbi, and I hope I do not answer something here incorrectly, but I'll try a "Layperson's" Jewish response. I’m sorry, it’s going to be long, this isn’t the kind of thing that can be summed in a few words.
Judaism, including the different branches of Orthodox, clearly differentiates between Jews and Gentiles, and yes, there are different codes that apply to each. For example, I am commanded to observe the Sabbath, but it is not commanded that a Gentile observe the Sabbath. I am commanded to eat Kosher, but this is not required of a Gentile. So when the Rabbis differentiate between a Jew and Gentile, it’s not because Gentiles are evil (though some might be), it’s because Jews have to follow commandments, and Gentiles do not, and a distinction between the two groups must therefore be made.
Even within Judaism, there are different requirements placed on different people, based on characteristics that cannot be controlled: people of the Kohen or Levi lines have additional responsibilities, for example. Each sex has different responsibilities. But the key thing is this: putting different spiritual requirements on different people, is not the same as supremacism or exploiting.
Judaism is ancient, we have records of Jewish thought and codes dating thousands of years. I know there are ancient Jewish thoughts or codes that in today’s light can be interpreted as being exploitive, and generally these codes have been stopped, and are not followed. Every religion suffers from this, the key thing is keeping perspective, and differentiating reality from delusion. I don’t hold modern Christianity responsible for the Inquisition, which forced a choice between conversion or death. That would be idiotic. The reality is that Christianity is a peaceful, respectful religion. The delusion would be that Christianity will use force to convert me.
Are Jews supposed to be proud of being Jewish? Yes, and the religion teaches this. But I’d argue strongly that this is also not the same things as ‘supremacism’. If it’s real, my guess is that it has nothing to do with worldly rule, like a king over subjects, probably more to do with being a spiritual link between the world and the Lord, and the Lord rules. As far as the Noahide laws, I don’t believe they teach an ‘imposition’ of these on Gentiles, more an expectation, a hope. An analogy is this: Christianity wants people to convert, but I don’t find it inherently evil for wanting to do so. (Gotta keep reality separate from delusion.)
Interestingly, Jewish concern about being different from everybody else is often cited as one of the reasons that Reform Judaism started in the first place, in mid 1800s Germany. The thought was this: if Jews wouldn’t be so different from the Gentiles, maybe the Jews wouldn’t be hated as much. But that backfired: Within 100 years there was Holocaust. Calling Reform Jews “Jewish” is technically true, even according to the Rabbis, who base one’s Judaism on one’s mother. But it would be incorrect to say that Judaism -as a religion- has anything to do with Leftist nonsense like Globalism, or open borders, or the double standard of supporting open borders here in the States and closed borders in Israel. American Reform Jews are ethnically Jews, but they change the religion as they go, and most of them worship Leftism a lot more than they worship the Lord. It would be more appropriate to call what the Orthodox practice the Jewish religion. I can explain the theological difference between Orthodox and Reform more, if you’re interested. They’re very very different.

At no point in decades long history of this rock has a single message been painted on it for so long that I am aware. They protest our local police station who have NEVER shot anyone or been accused of racism or any kind. They are trying to create a racial issue where none exists.
Suddenly 3 times in the past week it has been painted over with White Lives matter or No Blacks are welcome. The handwriting and style on this seemed very familiar to me as it matched the "No Nazi" message painted over my MAGA painting.
I spent several hours last night watching under the cover of darkness waiting for them to try it again so I could expose their hoax for what it is. They had a group of about a dozen people "Camping out" around the rock until early morning. Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan tried to push that narrative and the closest he got was a Jewish ethno-religion because it is strictly intertwined with the religion. There is surely a Jewish consciousness , but there is no Jewish ethnicity. One could call himself an Israeli or a descendant of Judah to advance a Jewish ethnicity Theory, but then again there are also both Arab and catholic Israelis, even if it is defined as a Jewish state.

Here's an interesting twist for you. The vast majority of the 75% Leftist Jews are in the branch 'Reform Jews', who are far-far-far less religious than the Orthodox Jews, who tend to vote conservative / Trump.
Reform Jews are basically against nearly all ancient Jewish thought and customs, for example they've basically thrown out the Talmud. Some of them vehemently hate the Orthodox, claiming we're sexist etc. They (Reform) read Torah, but without these other texts, they don't know how to interpret the Torah. Instead, they make up what they want to believe.
So, being against 'Judaism' as a religion is the wrong way to be against Leftist Jews and their ideology. Being against Judaism the religion is being against the 25% who are here. Therefore, if somebody really wanted to clean up Leftist Jewish ideology, a better approach would be to bring Reform Jews back to traditional, Orthodox-like Judaism, and then they tend to be more reasonable.
I left Reform Judaism and became more traditional well before I walked away from the Democrats. Through Judaism I learned real ethics (not Leftist pseudo-ethics), and re-learned the skill of judgement, i.e. how to think and reason on my own. There's no hiding that yes, ethnically, there were Jews who were leaders of the Bolsheviks, but again most of these Jew leaders had left the religious aspect behind.
For example, find me a picture of Trotsky wearing a kippah. He was an atheist- like most Communists. Marx was born Jewish but his dad left the religion when Marx was a kid and raised him Lutheran (no insult to Lutherans intended, Marx also was an atheist).

Strictly speaking, many Orthodox Jews support Jewish supremacism against Gentiles. E.g. Plenty of Orthodox Jews support Jewish supremacism (ruling the world from Jerusalem, imposing the Noahide Laws on all Gentiles, and similar crap), e.g. Chabad Lubavitch. Many of those Orthodox that did vote for DJT just voted for him because they like Jared Kushner and thought he could manipulate DJT to be pro-Israel (fortunately, I think Kushner, a Democrat and Israel firster, is out. Kushner stabbed MAGA in the back on every issue, from immigration, to foreign policy).
Most neoliberal Jews support the Jewish identity and are even glaring hypocrites in terms of allowing Israel to pursue nationalistic policies but forcing open borders and other globalist garbage down Gentiles' throats. Reform, atheist, etc., doesn't matter.
I'd argue that Judaism teaches a dual system of "ethics", one for protecting Jews, and another for exploiting Gentiles. I know that may sound mean, and I don't think you are yourself an exploiter, but it's a serious fault of the religion and rabbis.
Thanks for engaging. I am not a Rabbi, and I hope I do not answer something here incorrectly, but I'll try a "Layperson's" Jewish response. I’m sorry, it’s going to be long, this isn’t the kind of thing that can be summed in a few words.
Judaism, including the different branches of Orthodox, clearly differentiates between Jews and Gentiles, and yes, there are different codes that apply to each. For example, I am commanded to observe the Sabbath, but it is not commanded that a Gentile observe the Sabbath. I am commanded to eat Kosher, but this is not required of a Gentile. So when the Rabbis differentiate between a Jew and Gentile, it’s not because Gentiles are evil (though some might be), it’s because Jews have to follow commandments, and Gentiles do not, and a distinction between the two groups must therefore be made.
Even within Judaism, there are different requirements placed on different people, based on characteristics that cannot be controlled: people of the Kohen or Levi lines have additional responsibilities, for example. Each sex has different responsibilities. But the key thing is this: putting different spiritual requirements on different people, is not the same as supremacism or exploiting.
Judaism is ancient, we have records of Jewish thought and codes dating thousands of years. I know there are ancient Jewish thoughts or codes that in today’s light can be interpreted as being exploitive, and generally these codes have been stopped, and are not followed. Every religion suffers from this, the key thing is keeping perspective, and differentiating reality from delusion. I don’t hold modern Christianity responsible for the Inquisition, which forced a choice between conversion or death. That would be idiotic. The reality is that Christianity is a peaceful, respectful religion. The delusion would be that Christianity will use force to convert me.
Are Jews supposed to be proud of being Jewish? Yes, and the religion teaches this. But I’d argue strongly that this is also not the same things as ‘supremacism’. One of the main reasons I’m here in ‘.win’ is because I can’t stand the Leftists hate of white people and Christians. Everybody should be allowed to feel pride for who they are and what they believe, white people, Christians, and Jews not excluded.
You mentioned ‘ruling the world from Jerusalem’, and I’m not familiar with this. It certainly wasn’t taught to me. If it’s real, my guess is that it has nothing to do with worldly rule, like a king over subjects, probably more to do with being a spiritual link between the world and the Lord, and the Lord rules. As far as the Noahide laws, I don’t believe they teach an ‘imposition’ of these on Gentiles, more an expectation, a hope. An analogy is this: Christianity wants people to convert, but I don’t find it inherently evil for wanting to do so. (Gotta keep reality separate from delusion.)
Interestingly, Jewish concern about being different from everybody else is often cited as one of the reasons that Reform Judaism started in the first place, in mid 1800s Germany. The thought was this: if Jews wouldn’t be so different from the Gentiles, maybe the Jews wouldn’t be hated as much. But that backfired: Within 100 years there was Holocaust. Calling Reform Jews “Jewish” is technically true, even according to the Rabbis, who base one’s Judaism on one’s mother. But it would be incorrect to say that Judaism -as a religion- has anything to do with Leftist nonsense like Globalism, or open borders, or the double standard of supporting open borders here in the States and closed borders in Israel. American Reform Jews are ethnically Jews, but they change the religion as they go, and most of them worship Leftism a lot more than they worship the Lord. It would be more appropriate to call what the Orthodox practice the Jewish religion. I can explain the theological difference between Orthodox and Reform more, if you’re interested. They’re very very different.
As an aside, you’ll find that most rank and file Leftist Jews technically support Israel, as in they don’t want it wiped off the map, but they want it to be weaker, not stronger: supporting Obama’s Iran deal, supporting Palestinians, etc, in other words, non-nationalistic policies, ask around.

I live right by this rock. I have painted it with MAGA a couple of times and every time by the next morning it is painted over with "No Nazis" or "Dump Trump".
This is supposed to be a "Free speech" rock where anyone can come paint it with any message they want. Kent is a very liberal university though so that means only leftist slogans are approved.
Well for the past 4 months the liberals on Campus have had Black Lives Matter painted on the rock. Someone tried to paint their engagement message "She said Yes!" on the rock and it was painted over with BLM. Someone else had a friend in their fraternity die and they painted a tribute to him. It was painted over with BLM. Every time it is painted with any message they immediately paint it over with BLM again.
At no point in decades long history of this rock has a single message been painted on it for so long that I am aware. They protest our local police station who have NEVER shot anyone or been accused of racism or any kind. They are trying to create a racial issue where none exists.
Suddenly 3 times in the past week it has been painted over with White Lives matter or No Blacks are welcome. The handwriting and style on this seemed very familiar to me as it matched the "No Nazi" message painted over my MAGA painting.
