Conservative whites, and blacks, do have a "collective interest", which is an interest that can be held in addition to believing in the preeminence of individual liberty. After that comes the importance of the family, which leftists are trying to destroy.
BLM saying, on their website, that they want to do away with the "western prescribed nuclear family" is a perfect example of why most Americans who know what that organization is really about are turned off completely.
The collectivist mindset is one that prefers state control over self control, and one that believes in the concept of collective guilt and punishment. This is the kind of thinking that leads to holocausts and critical race theory.
