Left hates peace now.

Not now. Always have. Obama was a low key war hawk. Hillary was an outright war hawk and would have started wars just like Bush did. What is more surprising is that the Republicans aren't war hawks or profiteers with Trump leading the party.

Progressivist Deep State. Dr. Joseph P Farrell. We've been battling this Systemic Penetration for a long time.

Arguably the best investigations into the subject matter:

Book 1: "McCarthy, Monmouth, and the Deep State"

https://www.lulu.com/en/us/shop/joseph-p-farrell/mccarthy-monmouth-and-the-deep-state/paperback/product-196m5pgv.html

Book 2: "McCarthy, Marshall, and the Other International: Roosevelt, Trotsky, Stalin, and America's Progressivist Deep State"

https://www.lulu.com/en/us/shop/joseph-p-farrell/mccarthy-marshall-and-the-other-international-roosevelt-trotsky-stalin-and-americas-progressivist-deep-state/paperback/product-1gqd9egd.html

Highly recommended if you're trying to understand the forces behind the rise of POTUS, and those in Defense Intelligence who are working to reshape what these Enemies of The US did to the US, and The World during the previous Century. POTUS was a long time in the making, and in engineering the possibility of where we are at now. For the inclined reader, Historian, Political Scientist, and deep diver, this is a crucial resource.

Yeah, but WW2 was justified and everyone agreed with it. If a Republican was President, we still would’ve gone to war. WW1 to a lesser extent. And you can’t legitimately tell me Korea was a mistake either. Don’t forget, it takes the approval of Congress to declare war, and there’ve been Republicans in Congress ever since the Civil War.

And Vietnam was obviously a disaster. Though on the bright side, we killed a lot of communists.

1
itbj2 1 point ago +2 / -1

WWI was just an extension to WWII and our involvement did not help matters as we took sides in a conflict we had nothing to do with.

2
theeyeshaveit 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hitler wanted to control the world. If we hadn't stopped the Germans in Europe, their next stop would have been America - and we would have had bombing on our soil.

23
ntvl 23 points ago +23 / -0

up until the Bushes it was always "The Left starts wars, the Right ends them".

Bush of course changed all that.

That is the reason for Syria. Libya was because Qadaffi was going to create a gold-backed pan-African currency that would weaken the power of the Euro.

8
TubySarbette 8 points ago +8 / -0

Ah ok, that also makes sense.

The only thing I knew for sure is that it wasn't for the good of American citizens.

I hope all Republicans and anti war leftists always remember how the media and intelligence agencies treated trump and how dishonest they were.

They lie and tell us violence is peace in our own country. The establishment can never again be trusted to tell us we need to intervene in another.

6
chickensoup 6 points ago +6 / -0

Let EU be dependant on the Russians.

Let them find engergy independence with nukes and north sea oil.

Not our problem.

We cannot trade American lives for the interest of another country. It's crazy.

Operations Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom were both started under Bushes, HW and W respectively.

It's already been established that the CIA knew the Taliban and Osama were planning something. FBI agents were actively being removed from terrorist cases in the 90s and 2000 because the CIA didn't like the competition even though the FBI had different interrogation tactics that sometimes worked better.

I guarantee the CIA covered up how much they knew even after this information was shared.

I don't blame HW for the first War in Iraq because Kuwait was our allies and Iraq had no legitimate claim to the country. I don't blame Bush for the initial Afghanistan invasion. But we should not be rebuilding countries for 20 years.

7
Isolated_Patriot 7 points ago +7 / -0

But we should not be rebuilding countries for 20 years.

"The Mouse That Roared" (1959) with Peter Sellers.

A country on the verge of economic collapse decides the best thing they could possibly do is declare war on The United States for all that sweet sweet aid money that comes after.

1959 1959 1959!

We've been doing this shit since for so long it was the central plot for a satire film the year my father was born.

He did kill a 16 year old US citizen in a drone strike, Anwar al-Awlaki. That’s the foreign policy version of a white cop killing a black man. Meanwhile he wins the Nobel Peace prize and people say foreign countries have lost all respect for us. Plus notice how the guy who nominated Trump is “far right”, I’m sure whoever nominated Barry was an austere scholar.

TheMutualist 5 points ago +5 / -0

The Democratic establishment has always been pro-war. Until the Bush family they got us involved in almost every war since 1860. WW1. WW2. Korea. Vietnam. Kosovo. Somalia. Bay of Pigs. This only exception was the Spanish American War since McKinley was president but he pled with Spain to not start the war. Republicans had to end Vietnam and Korea.

The Democrat establishment loves war but they're also willing to lie if a war is hurting their opponents. Neocons like Bolton at least don't lie about their foreign policy beliefs.

Most Democratic voters are only antiwar when it's inconvenient to a candidate they don't like. Unlike antiwar Republicans, they're willing to make excuses. The real antiwar leftists like Jimmy Dore are barely present anymore.

1
innawoods 1 point ago +1 / -0

There's plenty of evidence the USS Maine blew up by herself. Spain didn't start anything; just like Iraq and Afghanistan now, Cuba in 1898 was none of our business and the primary motivation for sending American military in was US business interests.

Yep. And all because a certain tiny but highly-influential Tribe of Tribesmen in the US pushed for those neocon wars. Pearle, Wolfowitz, Chertoff, Abrams, Feith, Kristol, etc. all belong to said Tribe.

Comanche_Moon 34 points ago +34 / -0

We are not the world's police force. Did Vietnam teach us nothing? Our men and women should not be dying because of violent morons in other countries. Bring our troops home. We have problems enough in our own country.

14
Hiw-lir-sirith 14 points ago +14 / -0

Honestly, this is a very difficult subject for me to grapple with. Does that fact that Vietnam ended up being a disaster automatically make it a wrong decision to get involved to thwart the spread of Communism? You could easily make the exact opposite case for the Korean War based on outcomes. As far as I can tell, our involvement is the only reason there is a free/slave and a literal light/dark divide on the Korean peninsula.

WWI and WWII have the same kind of juxtaposition. Looking back at history, I am repulsed by our involvement in WWI, but not so with WWII. Maybe this question of foreign involvement just has to be a case by case issue.

Regardless, our war in Iraq was one of the most misguided decisions in US history. At this point I don't see any other sensible conclusion.

6
Chick-fill-eh 6 points ago +6 / -0

There's no reason to risk american lives for commie assholes.

You want to be a communist country? Cool. Hope you don't mind ruling over a desert of glass.

It'd only take one or two countries at the most to get the point across.

4
Hiw-lir-sirith 4 points ago +4 / -0

You might be right. But it's easy to say from our vantage point in history. After China turned red, Communism started sweeping the globe at a rapid and terrifying pace. Neither of us knows how bad it would have gotten, or how close to home, if we hadn't intervened as much as we did.

8
Chick-fill-eh 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's taken root in the USA. Whatever we did, failed.

Vietnam would have worked if the military had been allowed to do its job, and fucking traitors like Jane Fonda had been thrown in jail rather than allowed national platforms to whine.

9
Lu-Bu 9 points ago +10 / -1

Vietnam was a noble war against Communists. So was Korea. The tragedy there was the cowardly way our politicians handled the war and the realization that our media/university element of society were treacherous, embedded, Marxist rats.

2
deathbymonty 2 points ago +3 / -1

This is the correct answer.

6
KekistanPM 6 points ago +7 / -1

Even more frustrating is that the Tet Offensive was a desperate push by the enemy; if we hadn't left after that, things may be very different.

10
ProphetOfKek 10 points ago +10 / -0

We could have turned Vietnam into a parking lot. We weren’t allowed to win that war by those in our government.

Meh, if American Troops could handle Patton's insufferable Ego, I'm sure they can understand Trump's comparatively mild Ego. Besides its already well known that Trump is more than gracious to the soldiers that serve.
