Please not Ted. He'd be a great justice, but he'd have to shut up and we need his voice on this side of the bench.

486
LionTed 486 points ago +490 / -4

People rip on Ted for being all talk, but consider that the majority of GOP politicians aren't even willing to do that.

275
AprilShowers 275 points ago +276 / -1

And Ted, at the very least, is always talking about the right things. I'll never forget during IG Horowitz's testimony both Republican and Democrat senators were hyper focused on wether bias or no bias was involved. Ted was the only senator who sat up there and said hold on you spied on an American citizen using doctored evidence while also withholding exculpatory evidence.

There are many more instances but that one will always stick with me.

104
rooftoptendie 104 points ago +106 / -2

unlike that piece of shit gowdy.

TZK is at least a fucking shitposter. And he IS always talking about the right things at the right time.

Theres a lot of people who don't bark and spit fire all the time like Gaetz and Nunez but when they do, they tend to influence the general direction of the narrative such as:

James Woods

Chuck Woolery

Mike Huckabee

Dinesh D'Souza

I’m embarrassed that I trusted Gowdy for so long. During all the Clinton shit he seemed like one of the only people interested in the truth, now he’s going out of his way to avoid the truth.

Fucking shameful.

deplorabetty 28 points ago +29 / -1

Gowdy is controlled opposition. He always has been. As a politician he talked just enough truth to keep his constituents voting for him. He played a skillful game in being the voice of the opposition during the Clinton mess, so there was no need to have someone who really wanted to get to the bottom of things to take the lead instead.

As soon as he left the House to go to Fox news, his entire facade crumbled.

6
deleted 6 points ago +7 / -1
4
DoYouBelieveInMAGA 4 points ago +5 / -1

Eh, I don't know if he always has been. And I don't know if he's controlled opposition as in behind-the-scenes people were controlling him. Maybe.

But I made up my mind on him when he left to go be on fucking television. He had momentum and he was getting recognition. He had a chance to be a top conservative leader if he wanted it. Instead of took a paycheck so he could work less and do absolutely nothing except talk.

So either/or. Controlled op or sellout. Doesn't really matter. He's an embarrassment.

12
N7fury 12 points ago +13 / -1

"I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump," the South Carolina Republican said in an interview on Fox News.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/29/politics/trey-gowdy-fbi-confidential-source-trump-russia/index.html

Keep in mind, Gowdy had clearance to see the unredacted files, he was on oversight and intelligence committees and should have known just how flimsy the “evidence” was and seen the corruption in the FBI. It’s either incompetence or malice, and having watched him doggedly pursue hilldawg I doubt it’s incompetence.

That’s just one example, he’s said a few things since Trump took office that have made me question his loyalty.

I gained to much respect for Cruz after trump won. Trump embarrassed them all on that stage and Ted was smart enough to realize that being a rhino is not what this new Republican Party was going to want so he joined the trump train.

88
PoppinKREAM 88 points ago +89 / -1

He's said before that he would likely reject a nomination not only because he feels he's more valued in the senate, but also because, despite his certainty that he'd rule fairly and in line with the Constitution, he wouldn't want to taint the court with the perception of political boas since so much of his image is involved heavily in the political sphere.

That disgusting, obese, degenerate, diabetic, racist whore on the bench literally said that her opinions were worth more because she wasn't white.

The brown nationalism is to make you disavow your partial white blood and European culture. The brown nationalism and idea of brown solidarity between Hispanics and blacks is also made to make you disavow your varying amounts European heritage, and to forget that everything that makes ANY Latin American culture great is because of Europe. Everything remotely rich or beautiful about Mexico, Brazil, Chile, or Argentina Is because of varying European cultures. And the cornerstone of all Latino cultures, Catholicism, is because of Europe.

I'll go ahead and add, there's a hidden agenda for the past few decades to make Hispanics more brown. One, advocacy for skin care and sunscreen directed towards Hispanics is non existent. If I had been properly SPFing since childhood, I'd be really really white. Two, assimilating Hispanics into black urban culture is needed to destroy the European culture Hispanics share, but also to increase the likelihood that Hispanics marry blacks and have children with them.

This is why young latinos are pretty much identical to blacks. It will essentially will lead to a future where Hispanics are more black than white or Indian. It also collectively lowers literacy and IQ while increasing poverty and crime statistics amongst Hispanics

It's diabolical, and all Hispanics should fight to reclaim their 30 to 80% European heritage and essential whiteness. If Hispanics can get to where Greeks or Italians are, the DNC will no longer be able to enslave us.

A bunch of weak faggots that never talk about action because larping as a news anchor pays better.

It's not just ethics. He's right. They exempt themselves from the rules they write. And then they ignore the rules when they want to and nothing ever happens to them.

Ethics don't help you much against someone who would seriously enjoy seeing you tortured to death. War is hell for good people because you can't win it without doing terrible things to other people. They enjoy the idea of war as long as it benefits them. Don't project your personal goodness on them. They are not good people at heart. It's a terrible truth, but it is the truth.

2

I think its less caring about the bias, and moreso caring about the fact that it (unfortunately) provides more ammo to the left.

I'm not one to argue that we shouldn't get muddy as fuck if the left insists on bringing in tractors of mud to the fight.

That said, one of the reasons conservatism is inherently better than progressivism is the fact that we at least acknowledge and stick to base principles.

I personally don't give a shit about perception beyond how they affect optics, and even then it's only really a problem when it comes to elections.

Cruz 2.0 is so much better than the previous version

31
tombombadil 31 points ago +32 / -1 (edited)

He was always cool. Trump just knew how to defeat him and we didn’t like that Cruz was the one guy left in Trump’s way. Frankly, Cruz was the only one who deserved to be anywhere near Trump in the primary.

Never forget that Cruz famously refused to attack Trump in the first several debates, when everyone else was. Cruz was actually the first to defend Trump by calling out the moderators for asking Trump if he was “a clown candidate”.

10
alfredbester 10 points ago +10 / -0

I like Carson a lot, but the Left would have destroyed him before the election.

6
ddragon 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yep, they would have Herman Cain’d him.

9
CmonPeopleGetReal 9 points ago +9 / -0

He was also playing the part of typical politician, afraid to say what he thought might hurt feelings, circle around with political doublespeak, and just generally came across as non-genuine.

Trump taught him how to be a man.

11
tombombadil 11 points ago +11 / -0

Everyone was playing the part of typical politician. That’s what makes Trump so revolutionary. He single handedly ended the era of phony politicians, and taught most of the how to win. The best part is that it’s going to take the Democrats at least another 10 years to catch on, maybe much longer.

5
CuomoisaMassMurderer 5 points ago +5 / -0

4
MerchantMan99 4 points ago +4 / -0

Russian collusion and sexism. Duh.

14
RunningBuffalo 14 points ago +15 / -1

Cruz was always the smartest guy in the room. He cut his teeth on Bush era politics. He learned how to speak that language and run that playbook.

Trump threw him for a loop. Hell, Trump threw everyone for a loop. It took Cruz a little bit to recalibrate, but he did. There are some (i.e. the lazy Never-Trumper grifter class) who never did.

Cruz doesn't have the instinct that Trump does. Trump is teaching him how to be a MAGA politician. Cruz would never have gotten there on his own. Because he's so traditionally intelligent, he's grown up able to adapt to any situation he's thrown into, and more quickly than most. But he can't play things from the gut like Trump can.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm serious. I would have told all of these hack activist """""journalists""""" to fuck off and get a real job by now.

"Any questions about the judges?"

B-BUT MUH WOODWARD PLS EXPLAIN WHY ORANGE = BAD

Welcome to .win!

I agree with your take and can think of little I'd enjoy more than breaking Jim Acosta's knees. KayMac is the only person I've seen handle a WH press conference on par with DJT, and she does it completely differently, of course. I hope they continue to tag team each other, keeping either from burning out.

Or better yet let no one else in the room besides Chanel Rion and KayMac, with DJT popping in whenever he wants. We'd find out 10x more.

I never would have thought hearing the names of possible Supreme Court justices being read by the president would be like hearing names of first round draft picks. But I never cared about draft picks.

Or would I have thought to tune in to press briefings and news conferences by the President exciting either. But here we are.

Right?! My first thought was that I need to pick who I’m gonna bet on.

ACB would probably betray us on immigration.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +3 / -1

That's a biggie. But that's 100% up to POTUS. How could a SCOTUS seat ever impact that?

1

It shouldn't.

But it will.

Put Rand on the Supreme Court. Put Whoever would legalize Machine Guns and actual Militia grade weaponry for the Militia.

eh, it was personal for awhile, so it probably took a lot to get over it.

I mean, hell many men would have never forgiven Trump for the horrible things Trump said about Cruz's wife.

Better man than I am, I would have told Trump to fuck off in Cruz's shoes, and hurt my own damn career to do so.

He can’t leave Texas!!! They’d fucking vote in Beto!

4

6
Industry4 6 points ago +7 / -1

He definitely deserves a shot at leadership. He has earned my respect over the years. After the 2016 primaries, he was under a lot of pressure to go the nevertrump route. He resisted and became one of Trump's biggest allies. He was there when we needed him and I will never forget that.

5
JohnR23 5 points ago +5 / -0

Trump burned him up pretty bad, and as a Cruz guy, it pissed me off. I actually thought that Cruz did the best thing with his convention speech, and we all needed some time to heal from that fight. I was actually pissed when Cruz endorsed Trump later on, but I now understand that it was for the best. Cruz has been a great ally for the president, and the president has been the greatest force for good in a generation (something that I didn’t believe in 2016).

SCOTUS is a major reason people voted.

That said, LOTS and LOTS of us conservatives and Trump supporters have STILL not registered to vote. Even some Democrats who are switching sides have not registered. Do not assume that your state is safe, even local elections count as we have seen over the past 6 months!

Check your status, register yourselves and get others who are passionate about Trump and conservative values if you or they haven't yet registered:

https://www.usa.gov/register-to-vote#item-212645 (or check the side bar)

Remember that this is a numbers game and we need to WIN!

4
mateus 4 points ago +4 / -0

Please, no. These Republican presidents have to STOP pulling administration-friendly members of congress out of their effective positions to accept cabinet positions, ambassadorships, and now SCOTUS appointments.

Enough, already!

I loathed this man. Then he lost to Trump. And instead of being a bitter bitch about it, he transformed himself into Lion Ted. Loyal, trustworthy, fearless. I could see myself voting for him as President in 2024.

3
MAGA_conservative 3 points ago +4 / -1

Cruz is one of the few who would make a superb justice, he's an appellate court lawyer, which is very different from lower courts.

That said, we need a Republican senate.

3
PeytonManThing 3 points ago +5 / -2

FUCKING DO IT

3
spicy_deluxe 3 points ago +3 / -0

Fuck it just put Ted Nugent on the Supreme Court.

3
magavoices 3 points ago +3 / -0

No. I'm going to get slammed for this, but I don't care.

First, he failed to support Trump during the RNC convention prior to the election. Any sane conservative would realize the only chance to stack the SCOTUS with conservative justices would be to win the presidency, otherwise, Hillary would be appointing them -- and yet he refused to do it. And now he wants to be appointed to the same SCOTUS that he jeopardized by not supporting Trump when it mattered.

Second, Trump implied Cruz's father helped in the assassination of JFK. That may mean Cruz's entire family is part of the CIA just like the Bush clan is/was.

Third, he made Phyllis Schlafly's life a living hell and drove her to an early grave, ripping her life's work out of her hands and turning her own daughter against her, simply because she endorsed Trump instead of him. Cruz gutted her Eagles Forum mailing list and she died within a month of going to court over and over defending her right to continue managing the Eagle forum.

Fourth, he was using every dirty trick in the book against Trump, installing his own electors who would revolt against Trump and vote for Cruz, even though Trump won the state. They were tactics of a sleazeball.

Fifth, he was a Nevertrumper until almost the end, prior to the election. If you're faced with Hillary as POTUS (would have been the end of this country) and you can't bring yourself to lift a finger to do anything about it until its almost too late, you're not really a conservative.

3
AlohaSnackbar 3 points ago +3 / -0

Rush limbaugh would be a great pick. He wouldn't even have to serve more than a day before retirement, and it would still be historic. His confirmation hearings would be epic. Every time a dem started a monologue or bullshit question, he could just interrupt them midway with an answer to an unrelated question. And then blame his cochlear implant. Shit, please me God-Emperor Space Cowboy Doctor President Trump, please oh please hear my prayers.

Could Tom Fitton have been one?

2
xxxMAGA420xxx [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Tom Fitton would make a great Justice, but he is way more valuable to the Conservative agenda as a lawyer. He does the heavy lifting by suing over things even Trump's DOJ refuses to look at. I'm not faulting Trump for the DOJ ofc, there is still a lot of the swamp there, but Tom Fitton is doing his best to keep them accountable.

1
rabbitholed 1 point ago +1 / -0

Tom Fitton is pretty fucking amazing!

2
Nolongerlurking561 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need justices like this who truly understand the law and will interpret it correctly, we will always have someone who can say the same things from a political standpoint

2
Jenmon 2 points ago +3 / -1

Good! He’s annoying. Get him out of politics so he doesn’t run for President in 2024 and then lose in the General. He can’t win a General, too unlikable.

2
kdiddyb 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ted has bigger plans imo He has said so on his podcast that he doesn’t want to be on the bench. I think he is thinking of a 2024 run for president.

Good thing Trump will probably get 2 justices. First replace RBG with ACB. Then whoever is next with Cruz. I think Clarence Thomas might retire during Trump’s second term and I can’t think of a better replacement than Ted.

5

Good point. I was about to disagree, but in the battle to win hearts and minds it’s a good short term strategy towards building a future where such strategies wouldn’t be necessary.
