Colonization of Africa north of the Sahara took place by AMH (anatomically modern humans) as they also colonized the northern Mediterranean region. Of course Europeans and North Africans have shared ancestry. Also, there was and has been lots of back migrations and inter mixing within different ethnic human groups over millennia. Look at mtdna U6 and its sister clade U5. One centered in North Africa and one in Europe and central Asia. All the way back to Paleolithic time frames.
