There were other African kingdoms but if they contributed a lot to the world we'd know more about them. Everyone had hereditary rulers it isn't much to brag about. What should be boasted about is democracy (Greece), republics (Rome), the Magna Carta (England), and the idea of a trial by a jury of your peers (Vikings).
