In California, most were caused by lighting in the extremely hot weather. Compound that with high wind, no rain, and extreme heat drying everything out and you have an absolute tinderbox. The sky has turned orange here in Oregon, too. I grew up in New England, so wildfires were completely new to me when I moved out this way. I've had my fill for a lifetime. I'd much sooner deal with blizzards and freezing temperatures than a raging inferno.
are you me? grew up in central MA, live in east bay area now. we have very similar sentiments. i actually MISS snow, never thought id say THAT after 30 years of shoveling! lol.
Lol I never thought I'd miss it either! But I'd sure as hell rather deal with something manageable like snow and ice than unstoppable blazes. If I moved back to New England, I think it would be New Hampshire or Maine for me. I'd never live in Mass again. Too much of a high tax nanny state. But after being on the west coast, I do miss how direct people are there. I even sort of miss the fahkin' retahds cutting me off on route 93.
dude its the one thing i've always said the west coast is lacking. the sheer brutal honesty of a masshole. when i first moved here people were like "dude tone it down". also i still say wicked all the time instead of hella. i just miss genuine people. you cant say hi to people on the street out here, everything thinks you want something.
Thanks guys. I'm sitting here ignorant as hell.
edit: DAMN! That's a lot of fires. I wonder how many of them were caused by arson. Excellent map.

(All of them are arson.)
