When I see a guy in a fireman outfit standing next to a burning hillside, explaining to a newscaster that "This is burning just how we like it to, low and slow."; I'm not sure how else to read it.
If they had their choice of how a fire should behave to work in the firefighters benefit, it would be low and slow instead of fast moving and tree topping. Low and slow is much easier to fight. I'd direct your attention further from the ones saving your homes and more to the environmentalists and government that allowed this situation to present itself with shitty forest management.

I'm sure there are other areas where hard working firemen are doing heroic things to save structures and prevent loss of life, but we need to differentiate when people are saying " millions of acres burned! This is a tradegy!" - not all acreage is the same. Lots of these fires are in remote, unpopulated grasslands where no effort to stop them is taking place. It's another "lie with statistics" situation.
