Yea investing in your own company's stock is risky. If it goes south not only have you lost your investment but you are also at risk of losing your income.

How is it that Reich has lost all ability to reason and use logic?

Does his short stature coincide with his short intelligence?

He reminds me of a man I once worked with. One day some guys went into the latrine and put a footstool in front of a urinal and taped a label above it with his name on it. Good times!

it's the kind of come-back that makes me warm up to Elon

I knew Reich was a moron when he was Clinton's Secretary of Labor and claimed all the manufacturing jobs leaving the country weren't needed, because the US was going to become an economy about higher level jobs in technology, medical research, etc. Guess he didn't check the product put out by the public skools.

Yep, fucktards in the 70's had this great idea of outsourcing the shitty jobs to the third world and importing stuff back for massive profits due to cheap and endless labor supply. They got rich as fuck selling their kid's and their kid's kid's futures down river. Now those tin pot shitholes are catching up with the West in the tertiary sector and we're fucked. They increasingly no longer need our tertiary expertise, and straight out steal IP. Only way forward is to bring manufacturing back to the West and beat them on quality control and standards.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s creepy as fuck. I would never take one and never advocate for anyone else too. Isn’t it odd though how the person saying something makes all the difference. When Elon does it I find it creepy and overly ambitious. When Bill Gates does it it comes across as pure fucking evil.

Modus_Pwninz 4 points ago +5 / -1

》I would never get one

Some day they may be as common as cell phones. May need one just to be "normal" like everyone else.

Technology happens, and fast. There was a time people thought cell phones were an unnecessary luxury with little use. Why bother when there are pay phones, amirite?

2SmoothGQ 6 points ago +6 / -0

I see this argument a lot and I’m glad you brought it up. I can take my cell phone, any paper records that exist, wipe as much as humanly possible, destroy it all, and disappear into the wilderness. If I wanted to live off the land and generally be left alone there are plenty of places on this planet I could fuck off to. Once a chip is in your body it’s in there. You aren’t getting it out. You belong to the system. Yes I have a SSN. Yes records exist. There are millions and millions of acres of untamed wilderness and if I was so inclined I could do a pretty good job of making the system forget I exist. That changes when there is a chip they can use to pinpoint you within 5 feet that you can’t get out of your body. I would rather be a freak hermit in the Alaskan wilderness than be “normal” and give in to being permanently part of the system. You make a great point. Technology develops and the world moves on. I have my line in the sand though.

totktonikak 3 points ago +3 / -0

Technically, that's what the third pig in the presentation was all about. It had had the chip installed, and then it was removed. Elon did his best to demonstrate the procedure was reversible.

At some point, though, disappearing into the wilderness will be the only option to avoid something like Neuralink - it will be required for the most basic things, like operating a vehicle or paying for your groceries.

2
Modus_Pwninz 2 points ago +2 / -0

If they intend to enslave people via technology, even the wilderness won't hide you. They'll probably have drones searching for people using thermal imaging and shit.

These people in power get off on shit like that. They wake up with raging hard dicks thinking about all the technology and how they can use it to dehumanize you.

Yep it's creepy as hell and no way any sane person should entrust their literal brain activity to a private corporation.

Robert Reich is massively corrupt and takes way too many vacations in places where having sex with under age girls is allowed.

Mid-April Tesla stock was around $125/share. End of Aug it was was almost $500/share, now around $370/share.

2
sethrichsbrother2 2 points ago +3 / -1

Actually, it was 400 in Jan, then sky-rocketed to 2300 2 weeks ago. Then was a 5 -way split.

1
the-new-style 1 point ago +2 / -1

The recent price volatility was due to TSLA going for approval to join the S&P500.

If they got approved all the passive investment vehicles e.g. SPY, which currently account for 50% of all S&P share ownership, would be contractually obliged to buy TSLA at any price.

It has literally nothing to do with the fundamentals of the company.

These passive investment vehicles are bad for the economy, distorting the markets.

2
Scuffers 2 points ago +2 / -0

exactly...

makes you wonder who made the S&P500 decision, I wonder if they had any shorts placed?

1
the-new-style 1 point ago +2 / -1

Or they had shares in ETSY which got accepted instead

This is how you should handle anyone passing you a softball insult. Let them know it landed softly on your leg then throw a weighted ball right into their face.

christosgnosis 2 points ago +3 / -1

man it's such a travesty - to think that ivory tower establishments push these kind of complete idiots out on the public

and it's been going on for a long time

instead of burning down all these small businesses, what really need to be burned down are the Ivy League Universities

they're nothing but complete rot and poison these days

By now, Musk has built, run, or invested in several successful companies, and done things others thought impossible.

People making complaints like this (Musk has a lot of money, he should give some away) are people who never accomplished anything.

How about Bob start an electric car company, a spaceship company, be successful in both, and then he can give away his own money?

You have a link to this tweet. I can't find it.

nmv, I found it. https://twitter.com/RBReich/status/1303189563188244480 Sorry but I don't trust screenshots.

Robert Reich is a complete asshole. Total short guy syndrome. I had him briefly as an instructor 35 years ago. I've NEVER met anyone so self important in my entire life. Spent the first half of the first class telling us about all the 'important' people he knew and all the 'important' things he'd done.
