THis may sound weird, but I went to church a lot and due to my personality/ preferred way to worship (alone and outside), the music part at the beginning where everybody sings and gets sappy was extremely stressful to me. It helped to show up after that and slip in for the message.
You're not alone. The singing isn't for me. I enjoy taking it all in and listening to the song, but I don't like to participate.
Instead, most of the time I just stand there quietly and enjoy the worship. Or I'll just bow my head and pray for the duration, thanking God for the time he allotted me together with other believers.
Know that you're not alone. I'm not one for singing. Maybe it's social anxiety or the fact that I just don't like to sing. There's plenty of others in the congregation who likely don't sing either. You just can't tell unless you're standing behind them and looking closely enough.
Edit: I should add that no one judges you. It's hard to imagine that since we as humans are very egocentric. But most people who are singing are focused on the singing and worship. They don't have time to see someone who isn't singing.
My church is about 80% young families with at least one child. It's hard to find a wife there just because so many young women are already getting scooped up. It gives me hope.
Just watch out for chameleons. The ones that spent decades of their lives whoring themselves out and, on the edge of the expiration date of their looks, all of a sudden find Jesus and pray for a good husband.
