There were several powerful Republicans who refused to get behind Rudy or any of Trump’s other preferred pics. The moves that happen in DC are often behind the scenes vote wrangling. Look at what Pelosi does each time Susan Collins is a swing vote. For Trump to push through a strong AG he needed the republican leaders on board.

He did NOT Need the guy controlling the budget Bill (Ryan) trying to lobby against the AG nominee. Remember; this is during the time that every news outlet is trying to portray the transition as a chaotic shit show and leaks were happening left and right and he needed an AG in place. If Ryan and McConnell and Graham were all campaigning against Rudy it just adds to the chaos.

Sessions was pushed on Trump and it was Trump trying to work with the establishment that caused it. McCain, Romney, Ryan, the deep state shills all fought against Rudy and Flynn because those two were going to audit the deep state.
