Whose history would you most like to read? If it is European, then that argues we've done some interesting things (and knew to record it!). Same goes with artwork and literature. However, the Far East has produced some interesting things too, so I'd say we're at least on the whole pretty interesting.
Throughout history, the power has often shifted between the west and the east. I would say white people were the best during the Roman Empire. Then the power shifted to the Chinese Empire during the Dark Ages for a couple hundred of years. The power shifted again to Europeans during the colonial era. It is shifting again to the East right now.
