My son's school recently handed out a flyer about George Floyd. They described him as a "46 year old family man and african american".
So I went to Google to verify the simple fact that he left his family and was not in fact a "family man".
And I could not find that simple fact. I used every word combination, but no matter what I typed, it was always how great a father he was.
Eventually, I had to dig into individual articles and read between the lines to find out that, yes, he left his family in Houston to move to Minneapolis.
When people talk about media bias, it's often about news networks like CNN. But Google is far, far worse because people assume it's not biased, that it's only machine algorithms. It's not. It's exactly what you say:
censorship, propaganda, pervasive advertising space (the whole damn front page of results sometimes) and lefty bias make it difficult to find a lot of relevant results.
Bing.com seems to have remembered. Props to them.
