According to the campaign Gray was given the choice to stay in general admission but not while reporting. The New York Times responded, saying that Gray was removed “when she registered and attended as a member of the public.”

Was not a credential press member. Only had a general ticket. The campaign said she could stay just not as a reporter. She decided not to listen so she was treated as an normal general admission agitator and removed from the event.
