Post 9/11 we militarized the police. Then when they used the shit we said “oh nooo you can’t use it against rioters” Ferguson.

"Militarized police" is a meaningless phrase. The job has always had the possibility of violence. Police simply opted for the most effective offensive and defensive arms and armor an individual can get. This is after decades of sticking to the costume of the circa Andy Griffith uniform.

Militarization talk is nonsense. Where's the PD's artillery, close air support, satellite intel, etc? Body armor, ARs, and cargo pants does not a military make.
