I teach at a university. I spent all day yesterday (8am-5pm) lecturing behind that mask. My smartwatch alerted me that I'd logged 7500 steps in front of my classes. That's 3.5 MILES of walking I'd done in the pursuit of teaching about American and World history.

Of course, by 3:30 I was gasping for air. I was sucking in each breathful of air so ferociously that the suction was sealing the mask down onto my face, making the next breathful even more greedy and desperate. The moment I dismissed my last class, I ripped that mask off and the smell of unfiltered classroom air was...intoxicating.

The university I go to went fully online, and recently announced that winter will be too (outside of certain courses, master programs, and PhD - basically all undergrad courses got canned for in person lectures). I feel bad for first years, they won't develop the skills needed for in-person classes (note-taking, being quiet, lab safety/etiquette). Sadly I'm in 4th year and split it into 2 years since I don't want to be taking French classes online. But, even if they reverse course and allow on-campus in the winter and they mandate masks, I am not going back. 3 hours, let alone 9 hours, on campus in a mask, plus an hour each way on public transportation is not something I am willing to deal with.

As for me, I'm teaching what our administration droolers have euphemistically named "hybrid" courses. Each of my classes has been divided into thirds: Last names A-K come on Tuesday; L-Z come on Thursday; and, those who want to do the entire semester online opt for 'remote delivery'. That means I don't have 8-9 class sessions to deliver a complete batch of material before the exam--I only have 3-4 sessions. I have to rely on freshmen to show enough scholarship and self-discipline to learn the material on their own recognizance. Freshmen. When has that ever worked out well??

I deliver the exact same lecture to the Tuesday students and then the Thursday students because, technically, they're simply bifurcated groups of the exact same class. In order to keep the "lecture" material from unduly benefiting the attendees at the expense of the remotes, I've had to resort to teaching them the 'background history' to the subject at hand. It's like making a movie about the contents of Tolkien's appendices, and The Silmarillion and hoping that the reader has read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings before going to the theater.

Upvote for Silmarillion reference alone.

Your administration should have chosen the HyFlex model, much better sounding, very convincing to get those tuition checks cashed. The HyFlex model basically is a free for all of zoom meetings mixed with live lectures with recordings and live asynchronous coteaching using all the latest In cloud based technology. Integrating Tik-tok as a new assessment tool, basically the social network is used for grading the students work in a holistic fashion. What used to take about one hour per student per week for lecturing and grading now takes approximately 45 hours. It’s a very scalable method. It is automatically captured in Moodle after you spend several months getting the settings correct and hopefully it will still function when IT rolls out the new Moodle version in the third week of the semester. The auto captioning is also an excellent feature. I’ve heard international faculty members “rove R z fur chairs” of the language recognition. The students also love it or at least they are paying for it because that’s how accreditation monopolies work.

Ewwww. Must be pretty big classes then. 2 of mine are 10-20 students and seminar classes so splitting students would not work (though that's small enough I doubt they would try), the 3rd is about 40 students.

I remember my "freshman" years of post-secondary. I skipped classes to play Euchre or Spades in the Cafeteria. XD Thankfully when I went into University studies I didn't have friends on campus to drag me away from classes.

Hybrid classes up here are weird because you sometimes have to show up online to certain classes but others you don't have to and can watch the lecture whenever you want.

Croatan_man 1 point ago +1 / -0

they better be offering a discount! That is not what you payed for

3
mellestal 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm not 100% sure since I'm not taking the full course load like I was last year, so I'm paying per course. But, from what I've heard they did not. Best I've seen is that the student bus pass can be dumped without questions since there's nothing on campus. I'm more worried about 1st year chemistry students not getting safety drilled into them 24/7. They'll be dangerous 2nd years.

It is... especially to grade school kids. Masks for 7-8 hours a day?!?! It’s sick!

15
BeefChucker 15 points ago +16 / -1

The amount of parents making their small children wear masks is crazy. If my kids were that age I would recognize the obvious health issues.

Chinese made mask...it won’t be long till we have adults with lung cancers. See if you can find some of the videos of mask making factories in China. It’s unsanitary.

Breathing carbon monoxide all day while your brain is still developing....doesn't sound like a good outcome for our children

2
I_no_asshoe 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not at all! Especially the way kids run around. They don’t even get a break when they’re outside! It’s awful.

Get a mask that ties on and leave the bottom loosely tied. You should be able to breathe better, and you're technically following their rules

Anyone have a link to this evidence? I'd like to sue City, County and State as well. Or at the very least write to them with evidence.

I don't use Brave, but from what I can gather there seems to be some kind of petty drama between Brave and archive.is.

As to the problem, I've just installed Brave (Version 1.9.76 Chromium: 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and have no problem going to the archive links I've given.

Its darker than that

It's to rob you of your humanity as perceived by other people. It's a hell of a lot easier to attack a faceless person and not feel empathy or remorse. After all, they're faceless and dont count as a person psychologically.

It's literally to turn you into a machine.

We worried about the machines taking jobs away from us. We never expected that WE would be the machines

This will help me fight Doug Ford, the 'conservative' Premier of Ontario.

MY FUCKING BODY, MY FUCKING CHOICE.

20
Hillarysudders 20 points ago +20 / -0

Their argument for that is, it’s to protect others.

Well, other people are not my GODDAMN responsibility to protect!! I’m only responsible for myself and family.

17
RiverFenix 17 points ago +17 / -0

Nothing is stopping them from staying home, and if masks work as they claim they're protected from me by wearing a mask and staying 2m away from me at all times.

I would add the caveat I don't want to speak to them, they should keep their mouths shut for added protection.

4
Hombre29 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's even been repeatedly stated that staying physically apart from people is the main preventative measure and masks are just a little icing on that cake.

9
mellestal 9 points ago +9 / -0

Awww yeah, fellow Ontario pede here (well Quebec original). Ford's been a bit of a disappointment sadly. I'm hoping O'toole will do some good federally though.

5
RiverFenix 5 points ago +5 / -0

O'Toole is a globalist 'Tool'... not sure they're even trying very hard anymore to filter out surnames that give it away.

Justine WaterHole is the Liberal version of Scheer/O'Toole.. and talking about disappointments - I actually campaigned for the PPC.

I can't believe elections canada allowed someone to run in Maximes riding with the EXACT SAME NAME, for a 'joke' party. The guy in Beauce with the fake campaign got more votes than the actual PPC candidate I managed. It was INSANE on election night, seeing all the PPC candidates pull the same '2%' vote the CBC had predicted. Our last election was rigged beyond belief. Scheers conservatives spent more campaign money fighting the PPC (the actual conservative party) than they did against Trudeau or Singh (who said Bernier wasn't welcome in Canada anymore) or crazy Elizabeth.

I like this idea, but as we’ve seen, judges can be partial to a political ideology. To make a judge accountable, they’re going to have to provide a lot of evidence to the point the judge would look like an absolute fool, regardless of political leanings, if the judge rules against these doctors. The unfortunate thing is this judge isn’t a doctor, so I hope these doctors can dumb this down.

One of the reasons many corporations are formed in Delaware is bc the courts there have experts in corporate litigation matters.

Ideally, someone should find a court with experience in a lot of medical malpractice lawsuits and then bring up the mask issue in that jurisdiction.

Aren't the left rioting over some guy they say was suffocated because the police put a spit hood on him? That is basically a mask to stop the transmission of COVID.

Those "far-reaching implications" will unfortunately bounce off Emperor Cuomo who makes daily decisions based on his own scientific research, usually conducted solo and with his head up his own ass.

Honestly I'm afraid of an activist judge ruling in favor of the mask mandate and all states getting emboldened. I also want this crap to end. I hope the doctors put forth an impeccable argument and this gets ruled on quick. I just want it over.

8
MagaMagaChooChoo 8 points ago +8 / -0

If you think liberal activist judges paid by Soros will rule according to the law or evidence, you're going to have a bad time.

6
redstampede 6 points ago +6 / -0

I keep seeing Karens on Reddit insisting masks don't hurt your oxygen intake and everyone complaining is being ridiculous. That's total bullshit. You're taking in less O2 and recirculating more of the CO2 you exhale. They say the mask won't prevent O2 from getting through, and that's true, but it will prevent O2 from getting through at an adequate pressure, and it will prevent CO2 from clearing the mask fully so you're inhaling it in greater concentrations. That does terrible things to your brain in the long term.

I went shopping this morning. The amount of items I touched is one thing. In between touching everything I was constantly adjusting my mask and glasses because all of the movement makes my glasses fog up so in between everything I was constantly touching I was also constantly using my hands near my nose and mouth. I'm pretty sure the masks are more unsafe than just practicing social distancing and not going out/around people if you feel sick.

I also noticed about 20 different kinds of masks. Some look like they might work better than others but most really do not do anything but look "mask fashionable".

3
MAGA_Master 3 points ago +3 / -0

If they work then only people who want to wear them should wear them. If they don’t work then why wear them at all? We are going to have so many autistic-like kids who can’t read facial expressions in 10-15 years.

3
DoomieGrunt 3 points ago +3 / -0

I've decided to use my own face mask to make a statement. So when I do have to wear it, you'll know what I think of the man who mandated it.

If you have ever worn a mask in your life for 10 minutes or more you know it restricts airflow both ways and it is a no-brainer that you breath in a % of your last exhale every time. It's not flamin' rocket science.

You think the CDC is part of their irrefutable proof? I mean they did just state that masks don’t work for smoke particles, yet virus particles are 5-10 times smaller ... and they’re not the only source of that nugget. Even the largest HMO system in California said the same thing. Yet, the masses keep running around looking like Jesse James robbing a train.
