My SEVEN YEAR OLD NIECE asked about it, so I skimmed through it spamming the 10sec skip button to see how bad it really is. There was no sex or nudity, but nearly every frame turned my stomach. I don't give a damn about the context. Its not OK to make pedo trash just because at the end the girl cries and realizes sexualizing an 11 year old is bad. CP charges will never stick in our current corrupt justice system, but I hope everyone involved in this thing dies in a fucking fire.
I'm glad I didn't see that, but I saw enough to know my niece won't be watching that crap. My biggest concern is that she even knew about it. Sister in law said she heard about it from friends at school. She goes to a private Christian school and most of the parents are pretty conservative. If they aren't pushing this on children then why does she and every girl she knows (they're 7-8 btw) know about it? They're grooming our kids. This is unacceptable. My netflix is part of my cellphone plan so cancelling won't do any good. Seriously considering changing carriers at this point. I watched it. It's a coming of age story of an immigrant girl who breaks out of a traditional muslim family from Senegal.
Throughout the movie, she devolves from an innocent girl to to meet slutty female delinquent 11 yr olds to idolize ghetto slut Cardi B type culture, steals a cell phone to become an instagram whore, snaps a crotch shot, nearly kills a girl by pushing into water and watch drown, dance suggestively at a dance competition that was frowned upon by seemingly half the in scene audience only to freak out at the end of the dance routine and breaks down crying realizing..... Something (she's being a slut?). Then she cuts to another scene where she's a called a whore by grandma, briefly defended by her mother only to leave to attend the wedding of her husband to a 2nd wife, then the girl becomes a normal seemingly happy 11 yr old jumping rope.
Sometime in the middle of all this mess, she got her period and was told by her mother she's a woman now.
i see so many people cancelling netflix, including us... i wish i knew if it even puts a dent on netflix. They need to go down for this.... but for some reason, i feel like there are so many more people who think this is ok and so it wouldn't even hurt them a bit.
